Manheim Drive-Through Parade Raises More Than $8,400 BY CATHY MOLITORIS
The Manheim Drive-Through Parade was held on Oct. 7 in the parking lot of Manheim Brethren in Christ (BIC) Church. Participants included the local police, ambulance and fire departments, as well as the Manheim Central marching band and cheerleaders. “ We had 21 sponsor stands, which included local businesses, performances and nonprofit organizations,” said Anna Horst, communications director for Manheim BIC.
Awards were given out for participants. Ryan and Noelle Herr and their family won first place for Best Decorated Car. Sharon Winters won second place in that category. A photo contest was also held, and Riley Sauder won the prize. At the end of the parade, the church handed out milkshakes. More than $8,400 was raised during the event, Horst said, with the money benefiting the Mount Hope Nazarene Retirement Community, Manheim 4-H and FFA. “We chose these organizations See Parade pg 3

Manheim Central Holds Homecoming Celebration anheim Central High School held its homecoming ceremony during halftime at the school’s football game on Oct. 16. Ten student candidates were chosen for homecoming queen by the student body. They are Monica Bauman, Mackenzie Ginder, Erin Greiner, Cami Lehman, Jenna Lutz, Selena Melendez, Audrey Miller, Victoria Moreno, Abigail Ritter and Brielle Wagner. Abigail Ritter was crowned the 2020 homecoming queen by Abigail Miller, the 2019 homecoming queen. Audrey Miller was named honorary attendee. Monica is the daughter of Randy and Janice Bauman of Manheim. At school, she is a member of the varsity volleyball team. After graduation, she plans to further her education and become an elementary school teacher. Mackenzie is the daughter of Tom and Shannon Ginder of Manheim. At school, she is a member of the
Middle School as well as Wednesday morning worship, for which she is social media manager. Outside school, she is a member of the youth group at Manheim BIC Church and a leader for the seventh-grade girls. After graduation, she plans to attend college and then earn a master’s degree in health care administration. Jenna is the daughter of Steve and Shelly Lutz of Manheim. At school, she is captain of the field hockey team, is a member of Interact club and Student Council and participates in the middle school mentorship program. Outside school, she plays field hockey at Spooky Nook Sports and attends The Living Room at the Worship Center. Her plans after graduation include attending college. Selena is the daughter of Castor and Kendra Melendez of Manheim. At school, she participates in Interact club, Spanish club, Aevidum, Amnesty and Student Council. She is also a member of the National Art Honor Society. After graduation, she

The Downtown Manheim Open Banner Program kicked off recently and is a fundraiser for the Manheim Area Chamber of Commerce.
