For the Manheim Central High School (MCHS) marching band, excitement for the impending school year’s show starts way before band camp rolls around toward summer’s end. “We have a Reveal Night in April for all of the students who are interested in joining (marching band) or planning on coming back,” explained MCHS senior Paige Weaver, who is serving as a drum major this year along with fellow seniors Brooke Barnes and Brianna Sauder. Reveal Night is a time for students and parents to get the rundown on the coming season, ask questions, and view a video of the new show for the following school year. John Brackbill, now in his 11th year as MCHS marching band director, said that a staff meeting takes place in January to generate ideas for the show before pitching something to the design team.
