Your Next PA Adventure Starts Here

“Ilike to call this event

‘the most fun you’ll have planning your vacation,’” said Wendy Royal, event coordinator for the PA Family Travel Fair. “It’s free to attend. You can go around, get all kinds of information - visitors’ guides, brochures and information about things only the locals know.”

The eighth annual PA Family Travel Fair will be held on Saturday, April 11, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lebanon Valley Expo Center and Fairgrounds, 80 Rocherty Road, Lebanon.

from throughout the state.

It will feature more than 50 vendors and exhibitors showcasing destinations and attractions

“They are there to hand out free information. There’s no selling,” Royal said. “You can talk to the vendors, and they can answer any questions you have. Nobody knows their area or their attraction better than they do.”

Vendors will represent all corners of the state, providing ideas for summer getaways, day trips or longer vacations. Participants will include amusement parks; campgrounds; museums; and visitor

Tap Into Nostalgia at Festival

Raise a glass, sample specialty beers and raise funds for the Mount Joy community all at the same time by attending The Fresh Brews of Mount Joy 2026. The event will be held on Saturday, April 25, along Main Street in Mount Joy, between Market Street and Marietta Avenue. VIP admission will start at 1 p.m., with general admission at 2 p.m., and the festival will wrap up at 5 p.m.

About 50 vendors will be featured at the brew fest, including Rooster Street Brewing, 450 North Brewing Company, Dancing Gnome Brewery and Eno River Brewing.

A variety of food trucks will also be on-site, including MaddaBet Bakes, Chef Lex, Dutch Country Hand-Rolled Soft Pretzels, Piper Belles BBQ, Spud Muffin, The Donut Guys, The TacoRV, Wrightsville Pizza Kings and The Slavic Spoon.

Additional vendors will include Monkey Business Peanuts; Gnawjaw, which sells jerky; Hound Dog Bakery, which sells dog treats; and Old Grumpy Mark’s, which sells hot sauce.

Manheim may be a small town, but it has a rich and thriving arts scene. With that in mind, the Manheim Area Chamber of Commerce will host the Manheim Arts Festival on Saturday, April 11, from noon to 4 p.m. Activities will take place in and around Market Square.

“After five years of hosting 1st Thursdays, we wanted to pivot and offer something

different to the community,” said Kristie Schmid, executive director of the Chamber.

“Manheim has a rich arts community, so this festival came together very organically.”

The event will begin with an artist quick draw. Artists may sign up on the day of the event from 10 a.m. to noon. From noon to 2 p.m., artists will create their work in Market Square before setting their art up for judging, display and sales from 2 to 3 p.m. The

“This is a thoroughly enjoyable event with music at both ends of the venue area and access to breweries from across the country, many you’ve never tasted their offerings before,” said Sherry Caldwell, secretary/ treasurer for Voyage Mount Joy, which is organizing the fest. “It’s a rain-or-shine event and pet friendly.”

The festival will have a ’90s theme, and people are encouraged to dress to impress in their favorite retro outfit. Dave Gates Music will perform ’90s covers by request, and DJ Caraby will

tweaks to this year’s event.

“We’ve added more music, more potties and some new breweries are attending,” Caldwell remarked. “Last year was an amazing success for our first attempt.”

She invites anyone who is interested in sampling some beverages, enjoying the music or chowing down on food to get a ticket for the brew fest.

bureaus, including the PA Great Outdoors Visitors Bureau.

“People love the outdoors in Pennsylvania. One of our new vendors is the Keystone Elk Country Alliance,” Royal said, adding that the Elk County-based group will have lots of information on the elk herds that populate the region. “They’ll have information on the best times to see the elk, and they’ll give people lots of ideas of things to do in the area.”

New this year, the PA Family Travel Fair will feature two grand prize giveaways.

“We have two big getaways this year, instead of one like we’ve had in the past,” Royal said. “Both are for families of four, and they include lodging, attractions, vouchers, gift cards for restaurants and more. One is from Happy Valley Adventure Bureau, and one is from Destination Gettysburg.”

The first 500 people in the door at the travel fair will receive a goodie bag, perfect for stuffing full of information picked up at vendor booths, Royal said, adding, “Your bag will be full by the end of the day.”

The event is truly for the whole family, with plenty of options for kids to have fun.

“We have a kids’ passport, which encourages kids to interact with the vendors,” Royal explained. “One lucky youngster will win eight all-day passes to DelGrosso’s Amusement Park & Laguna Splash Water Park.”

Additionally, a balloon artist will entertain from 10 a.m. to noon, and airbrush tattoos will be offered from 1 to 3 p.m.

Clyde Peeling’s Reptiland will present a program at noon and will

also have a booth set up all day for visitors to interact with some of the organization’s animals.

Mascots will also be on-site, including Echo the Bat from Lincoln Caverns.

“She’s a lot of fun for the kids,” Royal said. “They really like meeting her.”

Along with vendors, the fair will feature a program from Sam Leamer, a local historian who will offer a presentation sponsored by Visit Lebanon Valley from 9 to 10:50 a.m.

“In honor of the 250th birthday of America, we wanted to bring somebody in who can talk about what life was like during Colonial times,” Royal said.

At 1:15 p.m., Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation president Marci Mowery will speak.

“She’s going to talk about opportunities for families in our state parks,” Royal said. “She was a schoolteacher, so she makes her presentations relatable for kids.”

Food will be available for purchase at a restaurant on-site at the expo center.

“It’s the kind of food you would expect to have at a county fair,” Royal said, noting that the restaurant is set up cafeteria style and is located right across the hall from the travel fair.

Royal has been organizing the PA Family Travel Fair since 2018, although she had been thinking about the idea for several years before that.

“Over the years, I’ve always been astonished that we don’t know what’s going on in our own backyard,” she said. “There are so many cool things in our state that people just aren’t aware of.”

at the PA Family Travel Fair.

Tourism is big business in Pennsylvania. According to a 2024 economic impact study, the most recent study completed, visitors to the state spent $49.9 billion, equating to $144 million a day. Tourism also supports more than 500,000 jobs in the state and generates more than $5 billion in tax revenue to benefit the state.

More than 2,000 people attended last year’s PA Family Travel Fair, and Royal is excited to host it in a new venue this year, with lots of space and plenty of free parking.

“Kids love this event because there’s always something fun to do. Parents love it because it’s free and they can get lots of information,” she said. “It’s just a fun day and an opportunity to find out things they didn’t know about what there is to do in our state.”

public is invited to watch the artists race against the clock to complete their creations.

Judging will take place at 3 p.m., and prize winners will be announced at 3:30 p.m. From 3:30 to 4 p.m., artwork will be displayed and sold.

The festival will feature fine art vendors, artist demonstrations, food and beverages, live music, kids’ activities and more.

“We have artists from all over Lancaster and Lebanon counties attending,” Schmid said.

Manheim artists will include April Downey (photography), Cindy Hanna (stained and fused glass), ClayHouse Arts (raku pottery demonstration), Hannah C. Weston (calligraphy), LaForge & Company (blacksmith), Liz Bardach (felted painting), Radiant Flora (stained glass, encasing preserved plants) and Rox Shenenberger (mixed-media acrylic painting and drawing).

Food will be available for purchase during the event, with vendors including Gourmet Julie’s Way, Today’s Grind Coffee Company and Twisted Sisters Ice Cream and Handmade Chocolates, all members of the Chamber.

The festival will also serve as a kickoff to a self-guided Mural Walk, which will then be available at www.lovemanheim.com.

“Murals are proven to strengthen local identity and pride, boost tourism and foot traffic and support local economic growth,” Schmid said. “The Manheim Area Chamber of Commerce has invested in two large mural projects in the past two years. Horst Arts has been instrumental in these projects and many others in Manheim. They are spearheading this Mural Walk that will guide participants to visit each mural, some of which will have interactive activities available during the event.”

She noted that the Manheim Arts Festival will offer entertainment for people of all ages.

“We hope the community will support this new event,” she said. “Even if you’re not in the market for art, there will be plenty to do and see. We will have live artist demonstrations going on throughout the event, great food/drink, a free kids’ zone at Zion Lutheran Preschool and live jazz music in the gazebo. We’ll also have two interactive walks featuring murals and stained glass. The Manheim Historical Society will host artists in the Fasig and Keath houses on East Main Street.”

Schmid emphasized her gratitude for the event’s sponsors, including presenting sponsors AES Clean Technology, Jonestown Bank & Trust and Utility Keystone Trailer Sales.

“This is not a craft fair but an arts festival,” she stated. “We’ve curated a list of artists that we’re really proud to host at the event!”

The rain date for the festival will be Saturday, April 18. For more information on the event, visit https://lovemanheim.com/ manheim-arts-festival.
