HERITAGE CELEBRATION

The sixth annual Covenanter Scottish Festival will take place on Saturday, Sept. 7, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the grounds of Middle Octorara Presbyterian Church, 1199 Valley Road, Quarryville. The event benefits efforts of the Octorara Covenanter Presbyterian Foundation to maintain and restore the historic Covenanter Church and attached one-room school museum. GS And L-S Will Team Up To White Out Hunger By Ann Mead Ash

According to Amy Marburger, food and nutrition manager with CrossNet Ministries’ food programs in New Holland, the fourth annual White Out Against Hunger held in 2018 netted more than 1,000 pounds of food for the local food pantry. REAL Life Community Services of Denver received an equal amount of food when the Garden Spot Spartans varsity football team faced off against the Cocalico Eagles nearly a year ago. This year’s White Out will be held during the football game between the Garden Spot High School (GSHS) Spartans and the Lampeter-Strasburg (L-S) High School Pioneers on Friday, Sept. 20, at GSHS, 669 E. Main St., New Holland. Gates will open at 5:45 p.m., and kickoff will be at 7 p.m. Fans of both teams are asked to bring See White Out Hunger pg 7
