Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m., and the four-person scramble tournament will have a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Prizes will be awarded for each of two flights. Contests will include hole-in-one; longest drive in the categories of men, senior men, and ladies; straightest drive; and closest-to-the-pin on five different holes.

The fee includes green fees, use of a cart, lunch, giveaway drawings, and favors. There is a discount for those who pay in advance. The field is limited to the first 144 players. Proceeds will allow the Lions Club to continue to fund various causes in the area.

Registration Opens For Shopping Event

Boscov’s has officially opened registration for its largest annual fundraising event, Friends Helping Friends. During the one-day, in-store only event, Boscov’s will offer significant discounts.

To participate in the event, customers will receive a Shopping Pass after donating a set amount to a partnering nonprofit organization; the nonprofit organization will keep 100% of the Shopping Pass donation proceeds.

Each year, more than 3,000 nonprofit organizations participate in the event, which raises more than $1 million in donations, according to Jim Boscov, chairman and CEO.

The Friends Helping Friends event will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 19, during store hours from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. The shopping discount applies to in-store purchases only.

Participants may register to win a Boscov’s gift card. There will be one winner per store.

LEMSA Partners With LG Health

Lancaster EMS (LEMSA) will offer athletic training services to its employees through a new partnership

with Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health (LG Health). The partnership is the first of its kind for a local EMS public service agency to collaborate with a local health care system to offer athletic training services for workplace injury prevention and education.

LG Health Sports Medicine will provide athletic training services to EMS personnel that includes prevention, clinical evaluation and diagnosis, immediate care, treatment, rehabilitation, and reconditioning. In addition to focusing on injury and illness trends within the workforce, the athletic trainer will also develop plans for employee engagement to promote wellness and a safe environment both physically and psychologically. The athletic trainer will coordinate with Lancaster EMS occupational health partners to monitor and manage the care of Lancaster EMS employees with work-related injuries.
