The Vietnam Veterans of America and Associates Chapter 1008 of Lancaster will hold a wreath laying and ceremony on Sunday, May 26, in honor of Memorial Day. The event will take place rain or shine at 1 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery, 719 Highland Ave., Lancaster, at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. The public is invited to attend. The memorial, which is maintained by the chapter, was erected in the early 1980s in honor of Lancaster County Vietnam veterans who gave their lives in service to their country. The Vet 21 Gun Salute will present a rifle salute and taps, and memories of the individuals honored on the memorial will be shared. Family members and friends may participate.

Strasburg Boy Scout Troop 56 is typically not chicken about its fundraising efforts, but it will make an exception for the sale of barbecue meals on Saturday, June 1, outside the Strasburg Market Place, 214 Hartman Bridge Road, Ronks. “ We always sell out every year because ours is the best around,” said senior patrol leader Jackson Price.

Barbecue coordinator Christie Livengood noted that she hopes the troop sells 1,000 half-chickens this year. Both meals and half-chickens only will be for sale. Each meal will include a half-chicken, a bag of potato chips, a banana, a dessert, and a beverage. Library Grant Aids Teachers

LAMPETER STRASBURG EDITION

For the ninth year in a row, Lancaster Public Library, 125 N. Duke St., Lancaster, received a grant from the Renée B. Fisher Foundation, a private foundation located in Green Farms, Conn. The grant, totaling $5,500, will allow the Lancaster Public Library to distribute hundreds of vouchers to teachers in Lancaster city.

Teachers use the vouchers to purchase thousands of books and other materials to enrich their classroom libraries.

Teachers may redeem their vouchers at the Lancaster Public Library’s three annual book sales and the library’s two bookstore locations, all operated by the Friends of the Lancaster Public Library.

The Kirby-Smith Believers Relay For Life team will partner with Living Stones Vineyard Church, 2292 Robert Fulton Highway, Peach Bottom, to host a fundraising event on Saturday, June 1. The team will benefit from a pig roast, and a yard sale will be held too, with the church receiving the proceeds from the rental of spaces.

Team member Dave Plastino and his friend Gene Snook plan to smoke a whole pig. Meals containing a pork sandwich, a bag of chips, and a water bottle will be sold from 11:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. or supplies run out, whichever happens first. After 3 p.m., any pork left over will be sold in bulk quantities. Folks may purchase tickets for the pig roast by calling Dave at 717-371-6153.

The yard sale will run from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dave’s wife, Evelma Plastino, is coordinating the yard sale, and she will sell individually priced variety baskets to benefit the Kirby-Smith Believers. Folks may start setting up as early as 5 a.m., Evelma said. “I’m always the early bird,” she remarked. “I like yard sales.”

The event will be held rain or shine. Last year, vendors set up inside the church building because it was raining.

There is a cost to rent a space, and the funds will go to Living Stones. Tables will not be provided, so vendors should bring their own. Folks who would like to reserve spaces should call Dave.

The Lancaster County Central Park swimming pool will open for the Memorial Day holiday weekend as well as the weekends of June 1 and 2 and 8 and 9. The pool will open daily starting Wednesday, June 12.

Swim lessons are also available at the pool and are held before pool public hours. Certified lifeguards and water safety instructors will lead participants in a program that includes sessions for infants through school-age children. Private lessons for people of all ages are also available.

In 2018, with the foundation’s support, Lancaster Public Library provided $4,810 in complimentary books to teachers in the School District of Lancaster and to Head Start teachers with classrooms in Lancaster city. The Friends of the Lancaster Public Library is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the Lancaster Public Library through fundraising activities, new programming, and promoting understanding and appreciation of the library’s role in a diverse community.

The Relay For Life team will also host a gospel concert at Georgetown - Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, 1070 Georgetown Road, Bart, on Sunday, June 2, at 7 p.m. Vocalist Sheila Druck will perform a variety of gospel songs and other selections. A freewill offering will be accepted.

The Kirby-Smith Believers team is in its 16th year. For most of those years, the group participated in the Relay For Life of Southern Lancaster County, but the event was consolidated into the Relay For Life of Lancaster County two years ago. Last year was the first time the team participated in the much bigger event, which is the secondlargest Relay For Life event in the world, reported team captain Pat LeFever. The Kirby-Smith Believers raised $22,000 last year, ranking them seventh out of 98 teams in totals.

“That was great,” LeFever said, sharing that the team’s best fundraisers are a Zumba event and a Valentine’s Day heartshaped sandtart cookie sale. The group also sends letters to friends and family members asking for contributions. “We’re always looking for new members (with other ideas),” LeFever said.

“We do a lot for a little team.”

This year’s Relay will be held at Conestoga Valley High School, 2110 Horseshoe Road, Lancaster, on Friday and Saturday, June 7 and 8. A total of 104 teams are expected to participate.

member Dottie Moser’s contribution. “Dottie’s fudge has brought $250 and $300 a pound (at previous auctions).”

Resurrection Catholic School, 521 E. Orange St., Lancaster, has proclaimed Friday, May 31, as Miss Weaver Day in recognition of Brenda Weaver, who will retire after 45 years in Catholic education.

All are invited from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., when the school will host friends, former students, teachers and colleagues who want to wish Weaver well, though anyone is also welcome to stop in any time during the day.

An official recognition ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. The celebration will continue with an end-of-school picnic from 5 to 7 p.m. at Pavilion 2 at Long’s Park on Harrisburg Pike in Lancaster, and all are also welcome there.

The World War II Oral History Club will welcome speaker Don Witmer to its meeting on Tuesday, May 28, at 7 p.m. at St. Anne’s Retirement Community, 3952 Columbia Ave., Columbia.

Witmer, a Lancaster native, served as a torpedo man in the Navy aboard the U.S.S. Twiggs, which would join the Pacific Fleet in 1944. The ship was hit once, repaired, and then hit again a few

Lancaster Bible College will host the Total Percussion Seminar from Tuesday to Saturday, June 11 to 15, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The camp is designed for student percussionists and focuses on strengthening musicianship and fundamental percussion technique.

The event includes the following components: Drumline Techniques, Drum Set, Mallet Studies, Concert Techniques, World and Hand Drumming, Music Technology, and District Audition Preparation. Students will also take part in percussion ensemble and marching percussion rehearsals throughout the week. Participants will present a free showcase performance on June 15 at 2 p.m. The performance is open to the public.

Past attendees have included middle school, high school, and college percussionists. Adults are welcome to register and participate. Some clinics may be open to the public for an entrance fee and will be announced at a later date.

Yoga Classes from pg <None> Benefit community yoga classes will be held at the Strasburg Community Park, 151 Precision Ave., in June. The hourlong classes will be held on Thursdays, June 6, 13, 20 and 27, on the stage at the park at 6 p.m.

Yoga is an ancient tradition with its origins tracing back thousands of years. It involves breath control and the adoption of specific bodily postures.

The classes are open to the public, both adults and children. Attendees should bring water and wear comfortable clothing. Leah Margerum and Monica Kirchner, co-owners of Willow Yoga Studio, will lead the yoga sessions.

The classes will be available by donation, with the park receiving all contributions made by participants.

Singers Invited To Regional Rehearsals

“Typically, there are about 800 singers with up to 5,000 (people) in attendance in the Great Auditorium. Really, (there’s) nothing like it elsewhere. (It’s) very inspiring,” said Memorial United Methodist Church (UMC) music director Tom Berdos, speaking about the Ocean Grove Choir Festival in Ocean Grove, N.J. At least that many people are expected to attend the 65th annual festival on Sunday, July 14, especially considering that Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association, which hosts the festival, is celebrating its 150th year in 2019.

“It’s an event dedicated to the glory of God, (a) very unique choral event, as well as a unique spiritual event,” Berdos remarked. “In addition to the large group on choir festival day, there are the regional rehearsals where people can meet and enjoy other singers in their area. People often participate for many years. It becomes a very special annual event.”

Memorial UMC, 101 S. Hess St., Quarryville, is one of those regional rehearsal sites.

Rehearsals will be held from 7 to

8 p.m. on Wednesdays from May 29 to July 10. Folks who plan to participate in the festival choir are invited to attend as many rehearsals as possible.

“The more you attend, the better prepared you will feel for the festival,” Berdos said.

The theme for the festival is “On Christ the Solid Rock,” and the 10 selected anthems reflect that theme. These are “God of Ages, God Eternal” by Thomas Juneau; “Great Is Thy Faithfulness,” arranged by Nathan Carter; “Lift Thine Eyes to the Mountains” from Mendelssohn’s “Elijah”; “Pilgrim’s Chorus” from Richard Wagner’s “Tannhauser”; “At the Name of Jesus” by Rene Clausen; “I Believe” by Mark Miller; “Jacob ’s Ladder,” arranged by Calvin Hampton; “No Time” by Susan Brumfield; “The Ground” by Ola Gjeilo; and “Upon This Rock” by John Ness Beck. Choir members are expected to purchase their own music from a specified publisher. Attire has been specified for singers. Otherwise, there is no cost to participate in the festival or to attend rehearsals.

“People love puppies,” remarked Lori Breece, UDS Service Dogs program manager.

Breece hopes that a love for puppies, dogs in general, and service dogs in particular will inspire many people to participate in Cause for Paws, a 5K Fun Run, Walk, and Wheelchair Roll that will be held on Saturday, June 8, at 8 a.m. at HACC Central Pennsylvania’s Community College Lancaster Campus, 1641 Old Philadelphia Pike, Lancaster.

“We are determining whether we will continue holding the event,” Breece said, noting that a successful event would have 200 entrants. “We’re looking at other opportunities (for fundraising).”

Cause for Paws has been designed to appeal to people with a range of abilities. The entire course is paved, and because it is located entirely on HACC’s campus on a weekend, there will be no traffic. “It’s good for families and safe,” Breece commented.

Awards will be given to the people who complete the course the fastest, but there will be other activities available that

morning. A Zumba warm-up will be offered at 7:30 a.m. Face painting will be available, and a magician will make balloon animals. New this year, children in kindergarten through grade five will be able to test their agility on a course that will include ladder drills, over/under, hula hoops, cone weaves, tunnels, and a 50yard dash. The agility course will open at 10 a.m. There is a cost to participate, and prizes will be awarded.

Dogs will be welcome at Cause for Paws. All canines must always be leashed, have excellent temperament with other dogs and children, and be current on their rabies and distemper vaccines.

Cleanup and water stations will be provided.

Attendees will be able to meet the new ambassador dog, Nova, and her owner, Jennifer King.

Beginning in July, the pair will venture into the community twice a week to introduce folks to UDS Service Dogs and recruit clients and sponsors. King and Nova will be available for lunchand-learn events, presentations, and other interactions.

Going forward, however, Breece wants to offer sponsorships for the smaller things that the Cause for Paws supports. A dozen puppies are brought into the program each year, and they need food bowls, leashes and collars, food, treats, and three vests each year as they grow. Veterinary care for the animals includes spay/neuter surgeries, checkups, and medication for fleas, ticks, and heartworms.

“We’re always looking for new sponsors and volunteers,” Breece said.

UDS Service Dogs is primarily in the business of providing trained canines for people with mobility disabilities and autism, Breece said.

“The facility dog list is really growing,” added program coordinator Kristy Smith.

Currently, 24 puppies and young dogs are in training to serve an individual or to serve in schools or retirement homes. One of the most recent to enter the program is Murphy, a 9-week-old black Labrador who was named in memory of the late radio personality Jerry Murphy. The puppy is slated to be part of the BARKS (Benefit, Assist, Rehabilitated, Knowledge, and Service) program at CI Moshannon Valley, a federal incarceration facility. There, he will be cared for and trained by inmates, and UDS Service Dogs staff members will visit and receive reports. When Murphy returns at age 1, he will be assessed for physical condition and ability. If he is of a good size, he may be used to assist an individual with balance, Breece said. If he has any health quirks, Murphy will be trained as a facility dog.

“I think it’ll be a lot of fun, (though),” Jackson remarked.

“My older friends who have gone said it’s a great experience.”

While the 11 older boys and adults are in New Mexico, the remainder of the troop will attend summer camp at Horseshoe Scout Reservation in Rising Sun, Md. During the seven days there, troop members will have the opportunity to work on requirements for many different forms of advancement, including rank, merit badges, and specialty programs, that they might not have access to otherwise.

New members are welcome to join Troop 56. The group meets every Monday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Scout House, 120 S. Jackson St., Strasburg.

The troop recently did some mulching at Wesley United Methodist Church, which is its charter organization. Additionally, while camping at the Lancaster County Conservancy, troop members spent time pulling garlic mustard. The group also performs roadside cleanup on Route 896, hosts flag retirement ceremonies twice a year, and places flags at gravesites for Memorial Day. The group takes time out for educational fun, however. This summer, seven Scouts and four leaders will travel to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico to backpack 63 miles in 11 days.

As part of their training, the 11 individuals recently attended Philmont Shakedown at Camp Mack, during which they hiked 10 miles. The hiking will not be the biggest challenge, Jackson

The troop aims to go camping at least once a month except for November and December. Thus, the equipment gets worn and replacements are necessary. Greater numbers of inventory are also required.

“Our troop is growing a ton, so we need to buy tents to grow (the inventory) proportionately,” Jackson said.

Pioneer Teams Keep Winning

-Lebanon League crown, the girls’ lacrosse team advanced to the second round of District 3A competition and the track teams brought home some hardware from the District Three Championships in Shippensburg. All four teams continue their post-season action this week.

The baseball team’s trek through the L-L playoff bracket included not one, or two but three shutouts to earn the program’s second L-L title and first since 1994. The team blanked Donegal 6-0 in the opening round then shut down Section One runner-up Warwick 5-0 last Tuesday before denying Section One champ Hempfield 3-0 in the finals at Ephrata’s War Memorial Stadium Thursday.

“There are a lot of good teams in Lancaster and Lebanon so to finish with three straight shutouts, I wouldn’t have guessed that,” said head coach Keith Martin. “The key has been the way this team practices and supports each other in both games and practices.”

Using three of their five base hits in the game, and a hit batter, the Pioneers scored all the runs they needed in the first inning.

Braendon Karpathios connected for a one out single, and Dylan Byler was hit by a pitch.

third and Connor Blantz singled in the first run. Derek Eckman’s grounder to right plated courtesy runner Alex Knapp and Blantz came home on the throw.

Joseph Meck singled in the third inning, Byler reached on an error in the fourth and Blantz collected his second single of the game in the sixth, providing Lampeter with three other run scoring opportunities that were denied.

On the hill, Byler walked the first batter of the game but had a no-hitter going into the sixth. The Knights collected an infield base hit in the sixth inning and a lead off base hit in the seventh. Byler finished with seven strikeouts and that leadoff walk.

The Pioneers, sitting with just two losses on the year, advanced to the finals with Tuesday’s shutout over Warwick. After three scoreless frames, L-S scored one in the fourth, three in the fifth and another in the sixth to take control. They collected nine hits with Karpathios

Karpathios started on the hill as well, tossing a threehitter with eight strikeouts and two walks.

“To have only two losses at this point is great but we need to keep our focus on what’s in front of us,” stated Martin. “We have embraced the concept of taking the season one game at a time and focusing on goals within each game. We need to stay committed to each other, continue to trust each other and stay true to what has gotten us to this point.”

SOFTBALL While the baseball team was shutting down the opposition, the softball team earned a come-from-behind win over Penn Manor (5-2) and took control against Elizabethtown (9-1) to earn their second L-L crown since 2014.

“I think that inning kinda knocked the wind out of their sail,” said Charles. “Julz (Garber), Chloe Blantz and Summer Peters connected for six of our 11 hits and Summer had two RBIs with a double and a triple. I felt we could have scored more later but we didn’t get it done.”

Drumm added a two run triple in that six run third and finished with two hits.

“Brynn shut the door,” said Charles. “She threw an amazing drop ball. Her drop hasn’t been working like that all year. She settled in after that first inning and finished with seven strikeouts and no walks.

“I was a little nervous coming in,” Charles said. “We had beaten them 13-0 and 10-2 earlier but they were coming off a shutout over Donegal and Warwick, two of the top teams in the league.

“Now we prepare for districts.”

TRACK The Pioneers took two top seeded athletes, and dozen or so others, to the District Three Track and Field Championships at Shippensburg this past weekend and came home with three gold medals and had four athletes qualify for the PIAA Championships.

More than 70 years ago, VFW members began a tradition of honoring fallen heroes in Strasburg, said parade chair Brian

Barr. When the Strubel post could no longer organize the parade and service, the Sertoma club stepped in to help. Boy Scout troops, the Strasburg Lodge of Odd Fellows, and community volunteers regularly help to place flags in Strasburg-area cemeteries to mark veterans’ final resting places. The flags are provided free of charge by the national VFW, and Korean War veteran and Sertoman Chet Lutz will coordinate their placement.

Additionally, civilian members of the public are invited to join a local bicycle shop in riding decorated bikes in the parade. “We feel this is a great way to get the community involved in the festivities,” Barr remarked. “We ask that the community also continue the tradition started several years ago that the residents along the parade route display flags or other patriotic decorations.”

A speakerâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s reception will begin at 4 p.m., followed by the main presentation at 4:30 p.m. Brewer will discuss the anti-slavery sentiment in Jeffersonâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s original draft of the Declaration of Independence and the vigorous debates it engendered.

Brewer is the Burke Professor of American History and an associate professor at the University of Maryland. She works on debates about justice in early America and the British Empire through the Revolutionary Period and into the

19th century. She is the author of â&#x20AC;&#x153;By Birth or Consent: Children, Law, and the AngloAmerican Revolution in Authority,â&#x20AC;? as well as the article â&#x20AC;&#x153;Entailing Aristocracy in Colonial Virginia.â&#x20AC;? She is currently finishing a book on the ideological origins of slavery in early America and the British Empire for which she received a Guggenheim Fellowship.

First up is a senior trip, when students will have the option to spend a day at Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey, visit New York City, or go bowling and catch a movie locally. Then, the prospective graduates will don their caps and gowns on the afternoon of Tuesday, May 28, and walk through the hallways of the Lampeter-Strasburg School Districtâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s elementary and middle schools to bid farewell to and inspire the younger students.

Incidentally, the Class of 2019 will be the first class of graduates to include students who attended the new Lampeter Elementary School when it opened in 2007. â&#x20AC;&#x153;The (classroom) pods were great,â&#x20AC;? recalled class secretary Sarah Capoferri. â&#x20AC;&#x153; We got to know each other really well.â&#x20AC;?

That familiarity continued throughout the years. â&#x20AC;&#x153;I feel like our class was really close,â&#x20AC;? Sarah said. â&#x20AC;&#x153;A lot of us were friends (as younger students) and stayed friends throughout high school.â&#x20AC;?

Class vice president Morgan Bucher concurred, saying, â&#x20AC;&#x153;I will miss the sense of community that our school has because it is relatively small. It has been a great place to grow up over the last 13 years.â&#x20AC;?

The community is invited to celebrate this milestone with the Class of 2019 by attending a baccalaureate service at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, in the Performing Arts Center (PAC) of the high school, 1600 Book Road, Lancaster. Then, they may return on May 31 for the commencement ceremony at 7 p.m. at Pioneer Field, which is next to the high school. In the event of inclement weather, commencement will be held in the PAC. Pennsylvania law requires any occupant younger than age 18 to buckle up when riding in a vehicle, as well as drivers and front-seat passengers. Children under age 2 must be secured in a rear-facing car seat, and children under age 4 must be restrained in an approved child safety seat. Children must ride in a booster seat until their 8th birthday.

In addition to adopting a zerotolerance approach toward violators, troopers certified as child passenger safety technicians will offer car seat fittings and inspections throughout Pennsylvania, helping ensure that car seats are in good working condition, installed properly, and free from recalls. A complete list of child passenger seat fitting stations is available at www.psp.pa.gov.

As part of the enforcement efforts, state police, along with agencies across the United States, will participate in a Border-to-Border initiative to provide increased seat belt enforcement at state borders, reinforcing the focus on safety. The Pennsylvania DUI Association reminds all motorists that May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month.

Motorcycles are smaller than cars or trucks and consequently are less visible to other operators. Drivers are reminded to exercise additional caution during this time of year as they grow accustomed to the increased presence of motorcycles. Double-checking mirrors, turning, and looking and listening for the sound of a motorcycle are just some of the things motorists should be doing before executing any type of lane change or entering traffic.

Motorcycle operators also bear responsibility for safe operation. They are 28 times more likely to be killed in a crash than other motorists and comprise the highest percentage of impaired drivers killed in crashes, with 37 percent of all motorcycle fatalities being alcohol-impaired.

North Museum of Nature and Science, 400 College Ave., Lancaster, will expand its early childhood programs to include Little Explorer and Me, STEM Story Time, and Preschool Picassos: Merging Art and Science. All of these programs are intended for children ages 2 to 5.

Little Explorer and Me will meet on the last Wednesday and Saturday of every month from 10 a.m. to noon and will provide educational activities for preschool-age children in the museum’s Nature Gallery. This program is free with the price of admission and offers physical, craft, and tactile activities specifically aligned to each month’s

Mom’s House of Lancaster has rescheduled its 26th annual fundraising Golf Classic for Monday, June 10, to raise money for program needs at Mom’s House.

The event, which was to be held on May 13 but was rained out, will still be held at the Conestoga Country Club, 1950 Stone Mill Road, Lancaster.

It will include a lunch, an 18hole four-person scramble, prizes including a hole-in-one cash prize, a 19th-hole social hour, a visit by Lancaster Barnstormers mascot Cylo, a silent auction, a buffet dinner, and awards to the top golfers. Registration will begin at 11 a.m., and tee-off will be at noon.

Event proceeds will promote and support Mom’s House child care and parent programs, provide state-accredited early learning education, and support single parents pursuing an education.

Students Win Coloring Contest

The Mennonite Children’s Choir of Lancaster is holding auditions for the 2019-20 choir year.

The Mennonite Children’s Choir of Lancaster (MCCL) is holding auditions for the 2019-20 choir year. Auditions include matching pitch, singing in tune, using head voice, maintaining a melodic line while another line is being sung, and singing one prepared piece of music.

MCCL serves more than 150 singers in Carol Choir, grades two to five; Concert Choir, grades six to eight; and Chamber Choir,

grades nine to 12. The choirs practice weekly on Tuesday evenings from late August through early May. Prospective singers should schedule a 15minute audition time slot with director Sarah Wingard at 540-383-9986 or carolandconcertchoir@lancastermennonite.org.

administration from Eastern Mennonite University and has pursued graduate study in choral music. She maintains a private piano studio and teaches piano at Franklin & Marshall College. She is an active pianist in the Lancaster area and currently plays with the Allegro Orchestra.

Wingard earned her bachelor’s degree in music education from Messiah College with a concentration in voice and extensive study in piano. Growing up in Virginia, she gained early musical experience singing with the nationally acclaimed Shenandoah Valley Children’s Choir. She teaches elementary music at the Locust Grove campus of Lancaster Mennonite School. Wingard also sings and regularly solos with the Susquehanna Chorale.

MCCL is also accepting registrations for two nonauditioned programs that develop vocal skills: Prelude Music for children in kindergarten and grade one and Choristers for youths in grades two to eight. Classes are held Tuesday evenings from September through November and again from February through April. Students Create Through Recycling Sacred Heart Middle School students have a double period for science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) each week. Beginning this school year, students in sixth, seventh and eighth grades spend an hour and a half each week working as a team solving various problems.

Each summer, thousands of children from low-income communities in New York City visit suburban, rural and small-town communities through The Fresh Air Fund’s Volunteer Host Family Program. Area families are invited to volunteer as host families for the summer of 2019.

Fresh Air children are boys and girls ages 7 to 18. Children on first-time visits are 7 to 12 years old and stay for one week.

Broadway legend Alice Ripley will visit Lancaster in June.

Events will take place at Prima, 941 Wheatland Ave., Lancaster.

Ripley is a Tony Award winner who is perhaps known best for her leading role in “Next to Normal.” The multitalented star has also appeared in “Sunset Boulevard,” “Tommy,” “Side Show,” and “The Rocky Horror Show.” Ripley will visit Prima’s new theater in support of the organization’s artistic and NextGen initiatives.

A benefit concert event will be held on Saturday, June 1, at 8 p.m. The concert, called “Ripley Prescription,” will share both funny and poignant stories of how music and theater heal people’s hearts. The event will feature Ripley on vocals and drums and Brad Simmons on vocals and piano. Ripley will perform songs from her Broadway past.

The concert will also honor Carol Rae Culliton of the Gunterberg Charitable Foundation for her impact on Lancaster.

Concert tickets include a 7 p.m. reception with gourmet desserts. VIP tickets include a 6:30 p.m. stage door entry experience, including a meet-andgreet with Ripley. There is a fee for tickets.

The event will also include three giveaway drawings. Prizes will include a full year of fine dining and a private movie showing or special event at Prima.
