However, school leadership has planned several events to celebrate the culminating achievement of the senior class. The baccalaureate service is not an official school event, but a link will be posted at www.l-spioneers.org and on
the school’s social media accounts. The service will be conducted by the L-S Ministerium and will premiere on YouTube on Wednesday, May 27, at 7 p.m. The high school’s official celebration will begin with a community parade on
Thursday, May 28, at 7 p.m. School buses will pick up the graduating seniors at their homes - eight students per bus in accordance with social distancing guidelines - for a parade through Strasburg, Willow Street, and See L-S Commencement pg 8
Commencement will be markedly different for the Lampeter-Strasburg (L-S) High School Class of 2020, as compared with its predecessors.
Lancaster EMS Moms Receive Flowers And More By Ann Mead Ash
Marisa Seubert, marketing and development coordinator with Lancaster EMS, knew that many of the emergency medical services families could not be together on Mother’s Day. Thinking about that inspired her to consider what could be done for mothers this year. By partnering with Worship Center and Whole Foods Market, Seubert was able to make Mother’s Day special for some of the organization’s first responders. On May 10 at 9 a.m., Seubert and Lancaster EMS board member Dick Moriarty picked up bouquets of flowers at Whole Foods. Each bouquet was paired with a prayer note and a gift See Lancaster EMS pg 5
Members of Lancaster EMS staff who are mothers and who worked on Mother’s Day received flowers and gift cards from Worship Center and Whole Foods Market. Mothers at the East Lampeter Station that day included Jess C. (second from left) and Jess W. (second from right), who shared a shift with Alexis D. (far left) and Alexa M. (far right).
Memorial Day Will Look Different In Strasburg “It is with great sadness that we announce that the 73rd annual Strasburg Memorial Day parade and service scheduled for May 25 has been canceled,” said parade chairman Brian Barr. The parade has been hosted in recent years by the Strasburg Area Sertoma Club and the former Paul R. Strubel VFW Post 8710 in conjunction with Strasburg law enforcement and borough officials. The cancellation was made due to the continued stay-at-home order that is effective through Thursday, June 4. However, while the public observation of Memorial Day has been canceled,
private commemoration may continue. “In lieu of the parade, we ask that local residents, in small family groups, visit one of the three cemeteries in the borough that have veterans interred,” Barr invited. See Memorial Day pg 2
