The Schreiber Center for Pediatric Development is making a splash to celebrate its 90th anniversary. The center, at 625 Community Way, L ancaster, invites everyone in the community to attend the 38th annual Duckie R ace & Festival from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 13. The free, family-friendly festival will include activities,

Placing people ahead of money is the model upon which Life Changes Realty Group’s business is based. “ We’re really community focused,” said Jonathan Cross, a Manheim Township resident who’s been employed by Life Changes Realty Group for two years. “It’s why I’m part of this group. It’s the reason I probably won’t sell houses for anybody else. Money comes and goes, and I’ve only got so much time in this life. The

question is, ‘What am I doing with my time?’” Life Changes Realty Group employs 22 realtors and expediates t h e s a l e s o f p ro p e rties across L ancaster County. Adopting the company ’s pay-it-forward pro gram is one of the stipulations for employment. When a Life Changes Realty Group realtor assists with the sale of a proper ty, he or she is compelled to donate 10% of their commission to the nonprofit of their client’s choice. The charities must have local impact and not be associated with political campaigns or politics. “We’re not a national brand; we’re based in Lancaster County,” said Cross. “We don’t accept just anybody. The payit-forward program is m a n d a to r y w h e n w e come on board. Everybody told me how much money I was going to m a ke i n re a l e s t ate . But Brittany (Garner, owner) told me about how much money I was going to give away. We all do it together. It’s important to all of us. “I’ve got bills too,” added Cross. “I’m not a f lashy person. I’m not necessarily doing this to make big bucks. At the end of the day, it’s really satisfying giving someone keys to their first house. I help people get into their homes, and that’s very satisfying.” From 1 to 5 p.m. on Sund ay, S e pt . 13, at Penn Medicine Park , 650 N. Duckie from pg 1 over the past 90 years. Highlights will include two races that are open to people of all abilities. The 100-meter Duckling Dash for children ages 2 to 12 will begin at 3:30 p.m. Participants in the 1-mile Duckie Dash, at 4 p.m., can run, walk or roll along an accessible paved course. Service animals also are welcome. Tristin Mohr, one of Schreiber’s 2026 Ambassadors, will be among those lining up for the Duckling Dash. Tristin, age 5, who has cerebral palsy, recently graduated from Schreiber’s S.T.A.R.S. Preschool and receives physical, occupational and speech therapy at the center. His family, therapists and community members cheered him on as he completed last year’s event using his reverse walker. “Every year, the Duckie Race & Festival reminds us what our community makes possible,” DeBord said. “Seeing children like Tristin participate alongside their families and friends is what this day is all about. It’s a celebration of their abilities and of the community that has stood behind Schreiber families for 90 years.” Community members will have an opportunity to support Schreiber by “adopting” rubber duckies throughout the festival. Each duckie purchased ser ves as an entr y to a $2,500 grand prize giveaway, the winner of which will be announced after the festival concludes. The UnSinkables, Schre i b e r ’s m o d e r n b a n d featuring older teens and young adults of all abilities, will provide live music at the festival. The band’s lineup includes 2026 Sch-

Community members also can check out the Lancaster Public Library’s on-the-go mobile library and classic British sports cars from the Lanco MG Club. A sensory-friendly space will be available for children who need a break from the excitement. Schreiber serves about 2,000 children each year through outpatient therapy, early childhood education, recreation and family support programs. Thanks to generous community support through events such as the festival, the center never turns away a child due to a family’s inability to pay. “Proceeds from duck adoptions, race registrations and other event fundraising help cover the gap between what it costs Schreiber to provide pediatric therapy and what Medicaid and commercial insurance reimburse,” DeBord said. “That support allows Schreiber to continue serving children re gardless of their families’ financial circumstances.” The Duckie R ace & Festival is presented by Lancaster Toyota and Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health. Community members may adopt duckies online in advance or on race day. Registration for the Duckie Dash and Duckling Dash will be available from 1:30 to 3 p.m. on the day of the festival. Church from pg 1 and Frank and Joyce Young to help organize Cornerstone GMC. Cornerstone has been meeting in the tabernacle at the historic Landisville Camp Meeting since July 12. On Sunday, Sept. 20, the church plans to hold its first meeting in the Lancaster Farm & Home Center, 1383 Arcadia Road, Lancaster. Calling GMC “a return to Orthodox Wesleyanism,” Moser stated that Cornerstone began to form following a court decision on April 22 in a case involving about 50 Pennsylvania churches and the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church. The court held that congregations wishing to disaffiliate from the conference must give up church buildings and property. Moser responded to the decision by contacting the Northeast GMC about forming a new congregation in Lancaster, reaching out to her longtime friends the Youngs on the same day. “That’s where this congregation in Lancaster (County) was born,” explained Moser. On April 30, DiPaolo met

with Moser and the Youngs to discuss church planting in the area and how to spread the word about an exploratory meeting they planned to hold in Mount Joy on May 5. Nearly 90 people attended that meeting, and the group formed a 10-member leadership team. T he GMC movement in western Lancaster County had begun. In late May, a second public meeting was held, and this one included representatives of the Northeast Conference of the GMC. Aldersgate GMC in York became the sponsor of the new congregation, offering to provide support while Cornerstone applied for nonprofit status. “We voted on the name ‘Cornerstone’ based on Ephesians 2:19-20, which proclaims that Jesus is the chief cornerstone of the church,” stated Moser. The group began meeting in the unairconditioned tabernacle, averaging up to 90 worshipers each week. “O ver the next two months, we saw all sorts of people and resources just about fall from the sky,” stated DiPaolo, who has served at a number of churches in eastern Pennsylvania, including as lead pastor of a church in downtown Lancaster, until he retired after 40 years of ministry. “ There was such enthusiasm that we started worship services on July 12.” Moser descr ibed the service as “high liturgical,” noting, “We focus on the liturgy and the Scripture.” She added that music for

the service includes traditional hymns mixed with contemporar y worship songs. “We are doing our best to encourage the Spirit to move through different types of music,” explained Moser, who stated that attendees come from both traditional and contemporary backgrounds. Worship is followed by a sermon based on a particular Scripture passage. Moser noted that services generally last about an hour. She pointed out that the congregation hopes to offer a Sunday school for children by the end of the year. For adults, home groups meet on Wednesdays to discuss the week’s Scripture in relation to specific questions. According to Moser, these groups, originally called “class meetings,” are the foundation of the church. “We aim to be transformational,” she explained, adding that groups examine Scripture in light of questions such
as “ W hat does this say about God?,” “What does this say about mankind?” and “ W hat w ill we do about this and who will we share it with?” Moser stated that the groups differ from Bible studies because studies tend to be more focused on gaining information. “GMC is a movement that wants to make disciples of Jesus Christ,” she explained. Currently, Cornerstone is on track to be adopted as a GMC congregation in early December. One o t h e r G M C c h u rc h i n the county is located in the Gap area. “It usually takes a year to get to this point,” explained Moser. “ We started worshiping (together) in only six to eight weeks. That was the work of the Lord moving in this.” Readers who would like more information may search for “Cornerstone Global Methodist Church” on Facebook. R131020

Dona Fisher Shares Change of Pace Message
DELIVERY UPDATES
BY JEFF FALK
It’s kind of like when producers change a popular book into a successful movie. Only this time, a popular Bible studies session is being turned into a successful book. Dona Fisher has enjoyed s o much s ucce ss w i t h Change of Pace Bible studies that she’s decided to share its message with a broader audience. “My prayer when people read my book is that they will understand the beauty of reconciliation and the need to break the chain of generational sin,” said Fisher. This year’s edition of the annual Change of Pace Bible studies will be held every Thursday from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at Lancaster Alliance Church, 210 Pitney Road, Lancaster. will also be available at the church. “We start our morning with a light breakfast and worship time singing together,” said Fisher, a resident of Manheim Township. “Bible studies encourage us to read God’s word, and reading enhances our wisdom with change of pace. We will also have a book swap this fall. Do you have a stack of books you have read and would enjoy sharing with others?” This year’s Change of Pace Bible studies will offer two courses of direction, “One in a Million” by Priscilla Shirer and “God Won’t Leave You There” by Anne Graham Lotz and daughter Rachel-Ruth Lotz Wright.
Each of the studies contain video sections, which will be followed by small group discussions. As many as 100 women from all over Lancaster County attend the nondenominational ladies’ Bible study. “They are ladies who (are) seeking to deepen their walk with the Lord,” said Fisher, “and who enjoy the sisterhood of other ladies who will pray for them and encourage them.” The Change of Pace Bible studies and book are both based on Fisher’s personal and sometimes tumultuous relationship with her mother. The content focuses on God’s power, love and forgiveness through multiple generations, and the book tells some of the powerful personal stories of the women who found their ways to the Bible study over the last half century. The book, “Change of Pace: Fifty Years of Shepherding God’s Sheep With Love and Power,” has already sold more than 4,000 copies and is currently in its second printing. The book can be purchase by searching for it on Amazon. Now, Fisher is considering the possibility of turning her story and her experiences with Change of Pace into a novel.
