Hempfield Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball Booster Clubs will hold a trivia night on Sunday, Nov. 3, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Twisted Bine, 39 E. Main St., Mount Joy. A grand prize will be awarded to the winner of the trivia contest, and door prizes will be given throughout the evening. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. One must be 21 years or older to attend. Church of Christ (UCC) of Rohrerstown, 2312 Marietta Ave., Lancaster. “The kitchen is (well-known), too,” added bazaar publicist Ginny Deaner. Forty vendors have registered to participate in the event, and some of the goods they will offer include handspun yarns, holiday aprons for adults and children, cards and stationery, painted gourds, wreaths, vintage ornaments, primitive Christmas décor, and woodworked products. A vendor known as the Pillow Lady will be at the event again. “She always sells out every year,”
Shipe said, noting that the woman gives the proceeds from her sales to the mission teams at her Quarryville-based church. Some of the vendors will be familiar to repeat bazaar attendees, but there will be new ones as well. “We’ve really gotten a lot (of new vendors) by word of mouth,” Shipe remarked, adding that Christmas at Salem has a good reputation in vendor circles. “Our kitchen goes around and takes their orders for food, and we help to take their items in to the church and out to their cars.” The bazaar will also feature a book fair and a silent auction. The 42nd Christmas in the Country bazaar and craft show will be held at Church of the Apostles, 1850 Marietta Ave., Lancaster, on Saturday, Nov. 9, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event, which usually draws more than 1,000 shoppers, will feature more than 60 carefully selected vendors and crafters. Types of items that may be purchased at the bazaar and craft show will include wreaths, baskets, pillows, stained glass decorations, jewelry,
paintings and other artwork, doll clothes, holiday and seasonal ornaments, hand-carved novelties, knitted items, photographs, soaps, and more. The Apostles’ Crafters Room will offer items that have been handmade by church members throughout the year. See Bazaar pg 10
