Community Invited To Meet The Knights Members of the public are invited to attend the 2019 Meet the Knights event on Friday, Aug. 16, where they may meet the Hempfield High School football team. The event will be held at 7 p.m. at the high school’s football stadium, Mumma Drive, Landisville. A feature of the evening will be the recognition of teams and players from the Red Rose Midget Football League, which is expected to feed the high school rosters in coming years. Teams from Mountville, Hempfield, and East Petersburg will be recognized. Additionally, the cheerleaders from the midget teams will join with the Hempfield cheering squad to energize the crowd. During the evening, head football coach Ron Zeiber will share the coaching staff’s views on the progress and expectations of the varsity squad. This

year’s slogan is “Built Different,” which emphasizes the varying talents of the team in hopes of capitalizing on last year’s finish in the PIAA District 3 playoffs. “ We have a great bunch of kids and some good senior leadership,” Zeiber remarked. “We’re expecting some underclassmen from last year’s very successful freshman and JV teams to be ready to play varsity ball this season.” Zeiber noted that the football team recently placed first in Ruckus on the River, a seven-on-seven competition at Eastern York High School. The team is now working with the coaching staff to prepare for Lancaster-Lebanon League Section One competition. The Black Knights will play their season opener at home on Friday, Aug. 23, at 7 p.m. against Dallastown. See Meet The Knights pg 4
