Irish dancing is a form of dancing ramped up a few notches. “Dance is all of those things at once,” said Esther Pujol, founder and head teacher at Doherty Petri School of Irish Dance. “Irish dance is an incredible form of exercise and athletic training, but it is also an art form that allows dancers to express emotion, creativity and personality. Each of our dancers start Irish dance with one of these goals in mind, but after practicing for years, it becomes all of them.” Doherty Petri School of Irish Dance will conduct this year’s edition of its annual summer camp from 9 a.m. to noon daily during the week of Monday, June 22, through Friday, June 26, at the Celtic Center of Lancaster, 1285 Manheim Pike. The camp is open to students between the ages of 5 and 17, from beginners to advanced dancers. Campers can reg ister for single or multiple days at www .palomairishdance.com. There are modest fees associated with registering. “Irish dance is a traditional form of dance rooted in the Irish culture,” said Pujol. “It combines athleticism, musicality, rhythm, precision and artistry.
