Lancaster Barnstormers mascot Cylo entertained the audience during a past Waystock Community Music & Fun Festival at Wayside Presbyterian Church in Landisville. The annual festival has been postponed, but the church is still accepting donations for the Hempfield Food Pantry.

“This (past) weekend would have been our Waystock Community Music & Fun Festival to benefit the Hempfield Food Pantry,” said Wayside Presbyterian Church member Debra Kereczman. “We’ve postponed, prayerfully hoping to offer a mini version as we move through yellow. Outdoors is good, right?” Waystock has been held outside on the congregation’s property, 600 Stony Battery Road, Landisville, for the past eight summers. This would have been the ninth. Local praise bands have been featured during Waystock, and there were activities for people of all ages to enjoy. One of the hallmarks of Waystock is the emphasis on supporting the Hempfield Food Pantry. Festival attendees had been invited to bring nonperishable food items or make financial contributions to the pantry at the event. Two

years ago, Wayside introduced Businesses on Battery, a food collection initiative involving the church’s neighbors, and set a goal that year to double contributions from previous years. “We expect to set a new Waystock record of food collection with the help of many of our neighboring ‘Businesses on Battery’ also filling food boxes,” Wayside pastor Steve Fritz said in 2018. Although Waystock has had to be postponed, the need at the food pantry has not abated. Instead, opportunities for assistance have increased. With the school year having ended and meals no longer being provided by the schools, some households are feeling the stress of feeding more people on limited budgets. PSPCA Offers Pet Food Assistance The Lancaster County Community Foundation in partnership with the United Way of Lancaster County awarded the Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PSPCA) Lancaster Center a $2,000 grant to assist pet owners in need throughout the region. The funds have been put into action to provide pet food as families face the health and economic impacts of the coronavirus. The PSPCA Lancaster Center, 848 S. Prince St., Lancaster, is working to assist pet families in need and has provided hundreds of pounds of dry food and countless pounds of wet food to its clients. With other area resources shuttered, the PSPCA has worked to ensure that anyone who needs assistance feeding their dogs or cats during this time receives it. To ensure safety of the PSPCA Lancaster staff and the public, all pet food pantry pickups are done without See Pet Food Assistance pg 2
