Fire Company Plans Mountville Days Carnival By Dayna M. Reidenouer

“ We’re one of the few carnivals left in Lancaster County,” said Mountville Days committee chair Bryan Duquin Jr. In contrast to the other events that petered out, the Mountville Days carnival is growing and improving, he said, adding, “We have new vendors. We’re trying to bring in more local family-owned businesses.” “We had no fireworks last year, but they’re back this year, and it’ll be our biggest display ever,” said Mountville Fire Company deputy chief Andrew Kalbach. Folks who watch the fireworks, which will be set off on Friday, May 17, beginning

around 8:30 p.m., will hopefully notice a difference. Duquin noted that the fire company hired a different group to handle the fireworks, and that business uses a computerdriven deployment system. Folks may bring chairs or blankets to sit and watch the fireworks. Saturday, May 18, has been set as the rain date. The fireworks are just one aspect of Mountville Days, which is an annual event run by the Mountville Fire Company. It is held at Froelich Park, 350 W. Main St., Mountville. This year’s event will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, May 15 and 16, from 6 to 9 p.m., as well as on May 17 and 18 from 5 to 11 p.m. There See Mountville Days pg 4
