Vagabonds Car Show Will Return To East Petersburg BY COURTNEY MENGEL

s part of the East Petersburg Community Park Event Series, the 12th annual Vagabonds Car Show will return on Saturday, May 1, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will take place at the East Petersburg Community Park, 6051 Pine Street, East Petersburg. Based in Landisville, the event coorganizer Vagabonds Rod & Custom Club was established in 1958. All vehicles are welcome to register for the show. “It can be a truck, car, motorcycle. It doesn’t even have to be custom,” stated Vance Spicer, vice president of Vagabonds Rod & Custom Club. Vagabonds Rod & Custom Club member Doug Rambler noted that there have been times where the entire park was filled with vehicles. As a result, some cars had to park on the baseball field. From 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., the band ThunderRoad Rockin’ Country will perform in the amphitheater.

Hometown Heroes To Hear The Bells BY COURTNEY MENGEL

East Petersburg Mayor James Malone noted that Sunday, May 2, has been proclaimed Bells Across Pennsylvania Day. On May 2, at 7 p.m., residents, businesses, and churches will be encouraged to ring bells for three minutes in a solid chorus of statewide support for the Pennsylvanians who put themselves in harm’s way to serve the public during the pandemic. 14th Annual EPC Golf Outing Will Benefit Good Samaritan Services BY COURTNEY MENGEL

In 2002, Good Samaritan Services (GSS) purchased its first property in Phoenixville, where it was able to serve five people at a time. Nine-

teen years later, GSS has acquired 13 different properties and can serve 200 people every day. GSS came to the Lancaster County area in 2011 after opening an emergency shelter in Ephrata, which provides

housing for women and children. GSS provides a full continuum of care to individuals and families experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness. Some of the services offered by GSS include eviction prevention, emergency shelter, traditional housing, affordable housing, and permanent housing services across Lancaster and Chester counties. The organization’s end goal is to empower people to feel confident and capable enough to maintain their own safe and stable housing.

There will be four different food trucks throughout the park. Vagabonds Rod & Custom Club will hold a Chinese auction and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to Hospice & Community Care. Sixty different trophies will be awarded to registered vehicles. Spicer said he is hoping for good weather and a great turnout. President of the East Petersburg Events Committee Kristin Troops thanked one of the committee’s biggest sponsors, Lancaster Toyota. “ We have a gorgeous park, and thanks to them, we have a wonderful amphitheater for the park,” she said. On the day of the car show, there will be an ampitheater sponsorship tower dedication at 1 p.m. There will be same-day registration for vehicles, and the first 200 registered participants will receive a collector’s edition event glass.
