Penn State Extension will hold information sessions for Lancaster County residents interested in becoming Master Gardeners on Thursday, March 19, at 7 p.m.; Tuesday, March 24, at 3 p.m.; and Tuesday, April 7, at 3 p.m. All sessions will be held at the Farm and Home Center, 1383 Arcadia Road, Lancaster. Weekly classes will begin in August. There is a fee to cover the cost of training materials and expenses. Hempfield To Stage “Beauty And The Beast” By Dayna M. Reidenouer

Hempfield High School students will present the Broadway version of Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, March 6, 7, and 8, in the school’s Performing Arts Center (PAC), 200 Stanley Ave., Landisville. Performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. on March 6 and 7, with matinees at 2:30 p.m. on March 7 and 8. All seating is reserved, and separate costs have been set for adults and for children and senior citizens. Tickets may be purchased at www.hempfieldsd.org/tickets or in person at the PAC box office beginning one hour prior to each showtime. Online ticket sales will close four hours before the start of each performance. Additionally, a senior citizen preview performance is slated for Thursday, March 5, at 7 p.m. Admission will be open free of charge to all residents of Hempfield School District age 65 and older on a first-come, first-served basis. Ethiopian Meal To Fund Equipment Purchase The purchase of a hematology analyzer, similar in function to the one shown with Siloam Ethiopia co-founder Wegayhu Ketema, is next on the list for the Lancaster County-based organization’s medical clinic in Ketema’s hometown of Harar, Ethiopia. A buffet meal of Ethiopian foods will be held on Saturday, Feb. 29, from 1 to 7 p.m. at Ethiopian Evangelical Church in Lancaster, 175 Church St., Landisville, to raise funds to buy the machine. Takeouts will be available. Diners are welcome to drop in at any time during the event, but registration is requested for planning purposes. will hold a designer bag bingo fundraiser on Sunday, March 1, at the Farm and Home Center, 1383 Arcadia Road, Lancaster. Doors will open at noon, with bingo to begin at 1:30 p.m. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. The organization provides funding for local residents currently receiving breast cancer treatment and for people who need breast cancer screenings. This is a cash-only event. Admission tickets will be sold in advance and at the door. Extra cards and special games will also be available for a fee, as will Chinese auction tickets and tickets for a giveaway drawing.
