The Hospitality Ministry Team of Lancaster Church of the Brethren, 1601 Sunset Ave., Lancaster, will hold its annual Friendship Dinner on Saturday, Feb. 15, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. in the church’s Family Life Center. The menu will consist of hamloaf, chicken cordon bleu, scalloped potatoes, broccoli, salad, and assorted desserts. Brothersister duo Lamar Dourte and Alice Lauver of Lancaster County will provide inspirational music. There is a cost for the event. “SPICY” MEETING

The Women’s Garden Club of Lancaster County will meet on Thursday, Feb. 27, at 1 p.m. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 301 St. Thomas Road, Lancaster. The meeting, themed “Spice Up,” will focus on overcoming the winter doldrums by adding warmth, flavor and fragrance to home cooking and craftiness. The presentation will delve into the origins, uses and storage of some favorite and uncommonly used spices. Following a brief business meeting and presentation, a social and fellowship tea will take place. New members and guests are invited for a nominal fee.

Hempfield School District Opens Kindergarten Registration Children residing in the Hempfield School District (HSD) who will be 5 years old prior to Tuesday, Sept. 1, are eligible to begin kindergarten in the fall of 2020. Parents and guardians who plan for their children to attend kindergarten this fall should complete the online registration process no later than Monday, Feb. 24. The district has listed three steps for a successful countdown to kindergarten. First, parents and guardians should visit the kindergarten registration page at www.hempfieldsd.org/ kindergarten to create an account and complete the online enrollment. Next, those same individuals should call HSD Student Services at 717-459-9009 to schedule a time to bring their child’s birth certificate, proof of residency, immunization records, and parent or guardian photo identification to the registration office. Finally, parents and guardians should plan to attend

Kindergarten Orientation Night at the school buildings where their children will attend school. During orientation, parents and guardians will learn more about the educational program, and they will be able to sign up their children for kindergarten screenings that will provide the respective school with valuable information about each individual’s health and personal strengths. Kindergarten Orientation Night will be held at Centerville Elementary School, 901 Centerville Road, Lancaster, on Monday, March 2, at 6:30 p.m.; East Petersburg Elementary School, 5700 Lemon St., East Petersburg, on Monday, March 9, at 5:15 p.m.; Farmdale Elementary School, 695 Prospect Road, Mount Joy, on Thursday, March 12, at 6:30 p.m.; Landisville Primary Center, 320 Mumma Drive, Landisville, on Tuesday, March 3, at 6:30 p.m.; Mountville Elementary School, 200 College Ave., on March 3, at 6:30 p.m.; and Rohrerstown Elementary School, 2200 Noll Drive, Lancaster, on Thursday, March 5, at 6:30 p.m.
