Megan Wendel is proof of the power of espousing positivity.
Known online as Megan Million, the 2023 graduate of Hempfield High School has amassed a total of more than 1 million followers across social media platforms TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook and YouTube, using the handle @MeganMillion100.
Megan, a junior studying business and marketing at Penn State University, began consistently engaging with people on social media approximately two years ago.
“I felt a calling,” she said. “One morning, I woke up and felt called to start posting. I felt like I would be able to inspire and motivate people and make them happy.
I’ve always been a joyful person.”
There was a one in a million chance Megan would become a social media superstar, but she had the work ethic and confidence to defy the odds.
“I didn’t know what I was doing at all,” Megan conceded. “All I knew was that I
had a phone and was super creative. I thought, ‘It can’t be that hard.’”
Her goal was to be a bright spot in a place where pessimism is pervasive. “There’s so much darkness on social media,” Megan said. “I want to be a light.”
Her accounts began to grab attention when a fellow Penn State student videoed Megan pulling a prank. She walked up to a stranger’s door and pretended she had been kicked out by a roommate and needed a place to sleep. The clip went viral, drawing 6 million views.
“I decided to keep posting,” Megan said. “I’ve worked hard at it and believed in myself.”
She has posted for months without missing a day, promoting her motto “Be You! Do You!” and encouraging people to be unique in their own special way. “I am hoping to inspire people to have confidence in themselves and not take life too seriously,” Megan said.
Her reach has grown exponentially. Megan has collaborated with some of the country’s most popular brands including Amazon, Poppi beverages, Bang Energy,

Fireside Tavern, and Twisted Bine Beer Company. “Without the help of the local businesses that support this, we would not be able to put this program together,” King said. “We will have everything from house goods to dog items to experiences. Urban Air is also donating tickets for go-karting.”
There will also be food for sale with the menu featuring hot dogs, pulled pork sandwiches, barbecue, chips, baked goods, and drinks such as soda and iced tea.
“It’s our second-largest fundraiser that we hold each year,” said King. “Other than just the prizes, we’ll also have a 50/50, and we have door prizes as well. But even if you don’t win anything, it’s just knowing that you’re part of something bigger. The ripple effect of a wagging tail goes very, very far in this program.”
The money generated goes directly to the service dogs program. “UDS has 14 different programs under our umbrella,” said King. “This fundraiser is specifically for service dogs. That will allow us to continue with the training, paying for food, vet care. It takes $38,000 to put one dog
through our training program, so events like this really help to offset that expense for our clients.”
Justin Snyder will be the guest bingo caller. “Justin is a veteran, so it’s perfect for us because we train some of our dogs for veterans with PTSD,” King said. King noted that UDS provides valuable services. “We are enhancing the lives of those living in our communities, within a threehour radius of Lancaster, who have mobility disabilities and for children with autism,” she said. “We’re also placing facility dogs in schools and counseling centers and retirement communities as well.”
A story from a retirement community is evidence of UDS’ success. “One of our dogs, Casey, is out at Garden Spot Village, and they call him their community dog, because he really has become part of the community for the residents out there,” said King. “Within the first three months of him being a working dog out there, their reports of outbursts dropped over 30%. So instead of giving them a medication to help them to relax, they would bring in Casey. It’s a holistic approach.”

Venmo, and Uber. She has also appeared on Walmart’s social media.
Megan’s biggest claim to fame is a partnership with State College Dunkin’ shops, which sell “The Megan Million,” an iced coffee that consists of two vanilla beans, two French vanilla swirls, almond milk, sweet cream cold foam, and pink sprinkles on top.
The coffee campaign has made Megan feel like a million bucks. “It’s so cool to see my face on billboards,” she said. “I smile every time I see it, and I am happy making other people smile.”
Her uplifting outlook has garnered attention. At the Shortform Awards & Gala in New York City in October of 2025, Megan was recognized as one of seven creators shaping the future of shortform content across TikTok, Snapchat, and Instagram.
She noted that her relatively short time in Hempfield has played a large part in her success. Megan and her family moved to the area from San Diego in 2021. She cites her time on the Black Knights’ tennis team as having a profound impact. “Everyone was best friends, and they encouraged me to be myself. It was such a positive experience that it shaped me into the person I became,” said Megan.
After graduating from Penn State, Megan is considering a career as an entrepreneur, in the entertainment indus -
try, or a combination of both. “I want to keep pushing positivity on TV, in movies, or across platforms,” she said.

Penn State Extension has released an updated version of the Walk by Faith train-the-trainer educational program, offered in partnership with the Penn State Cancer Institute. A training for organizations will be offered from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 25, in Room 140 at the Farm and Home Center, 1383 Arcadia Road, Lancaster.
Walk by Faith is a community-based program designed to encourage a healthy lifestyle that includes walking, with the goal of helping participants become more physically active and reduce their cancer risk. The program can be tailored to fit the needs and wants of the community where it is being presented.
During the program, participants set and track personal health goals, supplemented by educational sessions intended
to provide additional motivation and support. The toolkit offers resources for educational and motivational presentations, guidance for setting healthy lifestyle and activity goals, and group activities to encourage physical activity and healthy eating.
The curriculum writers noted that local community organizations implementing the program can reach individuals of various education levels, employment types, and incomes. These community groups also can provide social support and reinforcement to members, especially if they share a common goal of wanting to change health behaviors.
To register for the training, visit https://extension.psu.edu/ walk-by-faith-instructor-train ing-for-organizations or call 877-345-0691.
