Bring on the bingo February is right around the corner, and the festivities of Christmas and New Year’s Day have been wrapped up for the season. Local schools are back in session, and working adults have made the post-holiday transition back to their standard routines. For the players on the girls’ lacrosse team at Hempfield High School, this time of the year signals it is time for two things: gearing up for the start of the season and busting out the bingo cards. After Harr y Beauchamp of Lititz graduated from Manheim Township High School in 2015, he decided to take a break from his academic career to explore new opportunities. He wasn’t exactly sure what he wanted to pursue for a career, but he began working at Lancaster General Hospital as he considered different options during his gap year. Beauchamp’s job at the hospital entailed moving equipment and doing general housekeeping tasks. During his breaks, he started to watch episodes of a
television show that follows reallife first responders in New Orleans, and it sparked an interest in Beauchamp that would grow into a passion for firefighting. Today, Beauchamp is a volunteer firefighter at the Willow Street Fire Company, and he works full time as an emergency medical technician and firefighter in Parkesburg and Kennett Square. Beauchamp started his career by completing a training course offered through a partnership between Pennsylvania College of Health Sciences and Firefighter and photographer Lancaster EMS. he Dayspring Christian Academy Remember America Speaker Series ha s i t s ro o t s in Days pr ing founder Mike Myers’ master’s degree studies when he first read about the Principle Approach. “I had never made such a connection to our founders and the principles that guided them in our Declaration of Independence and our Constitution,” recalled Myers, who in response made “restoring the biblical foundation of America” part of the mission of Dayspring, which was founded in 1987. Dayspring Christian Academy will hold its 2024 Remember America Speaker Series event on Saturday, April 20, at the Lancaster County Convention Center, 25 S. Queen St., Lancaster. This year’s speaker will be Fox News host Tucker Carlson. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., and
the event will begin at 6 p.m. A limited number of gallery seats are still available for those who wish to hear the speaker at 7 p.m. Dayspring headmaster Dan Stone said that the biblical mandate for education is “part of the fabric of who we are.” “We believe God gave parents the authority to educate their children, and they partner with us,” he said, citing Psalm 78, Deuteronomy 6, and Ephesians 6, where God gives the command to teach children about Him. “The whole purpose of the passages is to teach their children so they can remember what the Lord has done,” Stone said. Dayspring events manager Lisa Becker explained that Dayspring is modeled after the education system in place at the country’s founding era. “That is the distinction of Principle Approach schools,” Myers explained. “Every subject is based on biblical truth that God spoke into existence.”
