The World War II Oral History Club will meet on Tuesday, Jan. 29, at 7 p.m. at St. Anne’s Retirement Community, 3952 Columbia Ave., Columbia. The club will welcome Lancaster County resident Rosette Lobel, a Holocaust survivor. Lobel was born in France and grew up under Hitler’s regime during the five-year Nazi occupation. The club meets at St. Anne’s on the last Tuesday of each month except December. All WWII veterans and family members, as well as those who have an interest in WWII history, are invited. WWII veterans and family and friends who would like to speak at a meeting may contact the club. Call 717-319-3430.

A homework assignment is due by Monday, Feb. 25, for parents and guardians who choose to send their children to kindergarten in the Hempfield School District this coming fall. In Pennsylvania, students are not compelled to attend school - whether public, private, or home - until they are age 8. In the Hempfield School District, students who opt to attend kindergarten for the 2019-20 school year must be 5 years old prior to Sunday, Sept. 1, 2019. To access the assignment, parents and guardians should visit www.hemp fieldsd.org/kindergarten. There, they will create an account and complete the online enrollment. Then, they will call Student Services at 717-459-9009 to schedule a time to bring their young students’ birth certificates, proofs of

Church To Host Clothing Giveaway, Aaron’s Acres Gears Up For Summer Camp Community Meal

Trinity Lutheran Church members and friends work together to offer an annual clothing giveaway and community meal. This year’s event - the 11th annual - is slated for Saturday, Jan. 26, at the church, 47 W. Main St., Mount Joy. Trinity Lutheran Church, 47 W. Main St., Mount Joy, will hold its 11th annual clothing giveaway and community meal on Saturday, Jan. 26, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The event is open to anyone who is in need of clothing. No one is turned

will host a “Souper Bowl” community meal on Sunday, Jan. 27, from 5 to 7 p.m. at its Grace Campus, 163 W. Frederick St., Millersville. Attendees can drop in for a dinner of homemade soups, sandwiches, salad, and desserts. The meal is free and open to the public. A suggested donation of one or more cans of soup is requested. The soup will be donated to The LOFT food bank at Millersville Church, A Brethren in Christ Community, and the HUB Campus Cupboard at MCChurch’s First Campus on George Steet. In the case of snow, the meal will be rescheduled for Monday, Jan. 28.
