Voices Of The Valley To Offer Concerts
“Harps Of Gold” Performances Set
Voices of the Valley, under the direction of Gregg R. Mauroni, will celebrate its 41st season with a holiday season concert series titled “A Child Is Born.” The concerts will include excerpts from Handel’s “Messiah,” traditional carols in settings by Mack Wilberg, and a cappella works by Olaf Christiansen and Thad Jones. The Hershey Community Chorus will perform its Christmas concert, “Harps of Gold,” in two churches this year. On Friday, Dec. 14, at 7:30 p.m., the chorus will perform in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church, 64 W. Chocolate Ave., Hershey. On Sunday, Dec. 16, at 3 p.m., a second concert will take place in the sanctuary of Trinity United Methodist Church, 210 W. Main St., Hummelstown. Two new arrangements will be presented this year. Jennifer A. Schramm and members of her orchestra from Cumberland Valley High School, along with percussionist Mark Alexander-Gray, will participate. The first performance will take place on Friday, Nov. 30, at 7:30 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 309 Herman Ave., Lemoyne. Concerts will also be held on Saturday, Dec. 1, at
7:30 p.m. at Palm Lutheran Church, 11 W. Cherry St., Palmyra, and on Saturday, Dec. 8, at 7:30 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church, 505 Woodcrest Ave., Lititz. Hosteler of Hummelstown is writing a medley of Christmas carols and songs for choir and bassoon. James Hoffmann, musical director of the chorus, is writing an arrangement titled “In the Bulb There is a Flower” for choir and harp. There is an admission cost. Story Time For Adults Posted Story times for adults will be offered at Hershey Public Library, 701 Cocoa Ave., Hershey, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17, and Saturday, Dec. 1. “The Hound of the Baskervilles” featuring Sherlock Holmes will be presented.
