Youths To Present “Disney’s The Lion King Jr.” he Hershey Area Playhouse, 830 Cherry Drive, Hershey, will present “Disney’s The Lion King Jr.” on Friday, Oct. 22, at 7 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 23, at 2 and 7 p.m.; and Sunday, Oct. 24, at 2 p.m. Based on Disney’s film and the Broadway musical, “Disney’s The Lion King Jr.” centers around the lion Simba and his coming of age among a host of unforgettable characters on his journey from the African savanna to the jungle and back. It will be the first junior Disney musical performed at the Playhouse, noted director

The show features a cast of 19 students in grades four to 12. Some of them are active participants in the Playhouse’s Theatre Academy program, which offers programming and classes for students throughout the year. chair, Steadman manages the overall program, welcomes incoming exchange students from around the world, identifies and orients host families for the students, maintains an active connection throughout the year with the outbound students, and documents the necessary paperwork required by Rotary International and the U.S. State Department for these exchange students. Steadman has also volunteered with the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank for a number of years.

Members of the Kiwanis Club of Middletown purchased, loaded, transported and delivered 1,600 boxes of cereal to the Middletown Interfaith Council Food Bank on Sept. 14. Club members keep an eye out for sales on items they could purchase for the food bank. The food bank, located at 201 Wyoming St., Middletown /Royalton, recently reopened on Tuesdays as well as Fridays from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to serve those in need in the community.
