The Friends of William H. and Marion C. Alexander Family Library will hold their annual book sale at Trinity United Methodist Church, 210 W. Main St, Hummelstown, on Wednesday, Oct. 3, through Friday, Oct. 5, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, Oct. 6, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 5 will be half-price day, and Oct. 6 will feature a bag sale. The sale will feature previously owned books in a variety of categories for adults, with special categories including large-print books, serial romance titles, and westerns. Children’s books will be categorized by age level. Media for sale will include books on CD, MP3s, CDs, DVDs, games, records, and puzzles. All proceeds benefit the William H. and Marion C. Capital City Polka Dancers Association will hold a dance on Saturday, Oct. 13, at Monaghan Fire Hall, 245 W. Library Plans “Build Hershey” And More Hershey Public Library, 701 Cocoa Avenue, Hershey, has scheduled several programs. Unless otherwise noted, registration is required by visiting the Events Calendar at www.hersheylibrary.org or calling 717-533-6555. Build Hershey will take place on Sunday, Oct. 7, from 2 to 4 p.m. Working in teams, participants will create a model of historical Hershey using Legos and a map created by architect Stephen W. Schwartz. The fast-paced, hands-on, model building experience will use more than 60,000 building blocks. Participants are encouraged to work in intergenerational teams. While the number of participants is not limited, teams are asked to preregister using the group registration option on the Events calendar at the aforementioned website. The library’s Financial Education Series will continue with two programs by Steven Ginter. Based on the Book: Bestseller Cinema with Bill Wine will take place on Sunday, Oct. 14, at 2 p.m. The presentation will center on the experience of reading a book and then seeing the movie and why people may prefer one medium to the other. Wine will analyze the psychological

experiences of reading and watching and will discuss the way classic and modern novels have been made into movies. The program is sponsored by the Friends of the Hershey Public Library. On Tuesday, Oct. 16, the library will close early at 5 p.m. for the Halloween Parade. On Sunday, Oct. 21, at 2 p.m., the library will present the Friends Fall Film Special, a showing the 1922 silent horror film “Nosferatu.” The film is best for viewers age 16 and up. During October, the library will celebrate the 200th anniversary of Mary Shelley’s classic novel, “Frankenstein.” A Frankenstein Discussion for Teens will take place at 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26, and a half-hour later at 4:30 p.m., teenagers may enter the Frankenstein Escape Room. In The Middle: Costume Party will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 31, at 3 p.m. These activities are open to youths in grade six and up. Wind Ensemble To Offer Concert Playhouse Sets “Inherit The Wind” First United Methodist Church, 64 W. Chocolate Ave., Hershey, will present a concert by Manor Winds on Sunday, Oct. 7, at 3 p.m. A Lancasterbased ensemble, Manor Winds consists of Matthew Angelo, flute; Lauren Fairfull, oboe; Christy Banks, clarinet; Anne Nye, horn; and Robin Plant, bassoon. The musicians come together to rehearse in a historic farm house on Manor Street. The group was formed in the spring of 2016, building upon friendships developed in the freelancing community. Since the group’s formation, it has given more than 20 performances throughout the southeastern Pennsylvania region. Manor Winds performs both standard and modern wind quintet repertoire in traditional

Hershey Area Playhouse, 830 Cherry Drive, Hershey, will present “Inherit the Wind” on Thursdays through Sundays, Oct. 4 to 7 and 11 to 14. Thursday through Saturday performances will begin at 7:30 p.m., with Sunday performances at 2 p.m. The American play, by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee, debuted in 1955 and fictionalizes the 1925 Scopes “Monkey” Trial as a means to discuss the then-contemporary McCarthy trials. The cast includes Virginia Hahn as Rachel Brown; Phil Jurus as Meeker; Sean Reynolds as Bertram Cates; Ruth Stewart as Mrs. Krebs and Mrs. Loomis; John Messmer as the Rev.
