Hope Within Ministries’ fifth annual Golf for Hope tournament is set to take place on Friday, Sept. 21, at Deer Valley Golf Course, 101 Stoudt Road, Hummelstown. “It’s a beautifully scenic course. Golfers of all skill levels really seem to like it,” said Donita Sturgis, president and co-founder of Hope Within Ministries. Sturgis noted that one of the reasons that Hope Within hosts its event at the course each year is the excellent job that course manager Bill Wall does in running the tournament effectively. “The golfers really appreciate how well it is run,” Sturgis said. The tournament will feature a four-person scramble format. Registration will open at 12:30 p.m., and play will commence at 1:30 p.m. with a shotgun start. Participation is limited to the first 120 golfers. Corporate sponsors are also needed. Prizes will be awarded to the first- and second-place teams, plus individual prizes will be given for hole-in-one, longest putt, longest drive for male and female, straightest drive, and closest to the pin. Staff and supporters of Hope Within Ministries invite area residents to register for the fifth annual Golf for Hope tournament on Sept. 21 at Deer Valley Golf Course in Hummelstown. The competition will be followed by dinner and a silent auction.
Arts Festival Events Slated The 37th annual Hummelstown Arts Festival will be held on Main Street in Hummelstown on Saturday, Sept. 15, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The sixth annual preview party and silent auction will be held on Thursday, Sept. 6, at the Hummelstown Fire Company on East Main Street, Hummelstown, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The preview event will be an evening of juried artists, music, and a reception of light hors d’oeuvres as the official kickoff to the 37th annual Hummelstown Arts Festival. The evening will offer an opportunity to view and purchase art and bid on handselected items from a silent auction. Live music by Modern Blue will also be featured. Tickets can be purchased now at several locations in Hummelstown, including Kirman Eye, 29 W. Main St., and Headquarters Hair Salon, 318 E.
