Hershey Area Women’s Connection, which is affiliated with Christian Women’s Clubs of America, will present a “Celebrate Summer!” brunch buffet on Wednesday, Aug. 15, at 9:30 a.m. at Hershey Italian Lodge, 128 Hillcrest Road, Hershey. All ladies are invited to attend. The feature will be a marbling demonstration by Priscilla Houliston from Locust Gap. The musician will be vocalist Destiny Shaffer from Harrisburg. During the session, information will e shared on how the spotted lanternfly arrived in Pennsylvania, tips to identify the pest, what steps to take if the pest is found in Dauphin County, and its potential impacts to the region. Londonderry Village, 1200 Grubb Road, Palmyra, will present a free evening at the movies for the community on Friday, Aug. 10. The featured movie will be the Academy Award-nominated movie “The Greatest Showman,” which will start at dusk. The movie shares the musically dramatized story of P.T. Hershey Area Playhouse To Present 1980s Movie Night Planned AACA Museum, 161 Museum will be provided by the Timeless “Daddy Long Legs” Musical Drive, Hershey, will host “Ferris Band. Food trucks will be on-site, Bueller’s Totally ’80s Movie Hershey Area Playhouse, 830 Cherry Drive, Hershey, will present “Daddy Long Legs,” a two-person musical, at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday through Saturday, Aug. 9 to 11. The stage musical features a book by John Caird and music and lyrics by Paul Gordon. It is based on the 1912 novel of the same name by Jean Webster. Directed by Michael Ritter, the local show will star Valerie Schrader as Jerusha Abbott and Travis Zimmerman as Jervis Pendleton. Set in turn-of-the-century New England, the musical tells the story of orphan Jerusha Abbott of the John Grier Home and her mysterious benefactor, who agrees to send her to college. She dubs him “Daddy Long Legs” after seeing his elongated shadow. Under the conditions of her benefactor, Jerusha sends him a letter once a month, describing her newfound experiences with

The 44th annual Mount Gretna Art Show will be held on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 18 and 19, on the streets and in the parks of Mount Gretna, on the historic grounds of the Pennsylvania Chautauqua. The show will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Aug. 18 and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Aug. 19, rain or shine. The Mount Gretna Art Show features fine artists and craftspeople from across the country.
This year’s show will feature 260 exhibitors, selected from nearly 500 applicants, as well as an Emerging Artists area for talented artists who have not exhibited previously. The show will also feature various new events, including exhibits by the Mount Gretna School of Art and the Friendship Heart Gallery of Lancaster and performances by music students at the Hall of Philosophy.
