Hershey Area Women’s Connection will host a “Let Us Entertain You” brunch buffet from 9:30 to 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 14, at Hershey Italian Lodge, 128 Hillcrest Road, Hershey. Sopranos Amy and Megan Burghdorf from Middletown will perform. Nancy Richard from Smyrna, Del., will present “The Day I Said ‘I Do.’ A True Dynamic Story of …For Better or For Worse.” There is a cost to attend, which is allinclusive. MOTORCYCLE RIDE

will hold its eighth annual “Miles for Smiles” Benefit Motorcycle Ride on Saturday, Aug. 17. The event will start and finish at the East Hanover Township Building, 8848 Jonestown Road, Grantville. Checkin will begin at 8:30 a.m., and the ride will begin at 10:30 a.m. The two-hour ride will follow a scenic 60-mile cross-country route through the Capital region of Pennsylvania. Participants will return to a catered meal, entertainment, and door prizes. There is a registration fee. Registration and details are available at www.catra.net. Proceeds will benefit individuals with special needs.

45th Mount Gretna Art Show Set The 45th annual Mount Gretna Art Show will be held on Saturday, Aug. 17, and Sunday, Aug. 18, on the streets and in the parks of Mount Gretna. The show will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Aug. 17 and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Aug. 18, rain or shine. The Mount Gretna Art Show features fine artists from across the country. This year’s show will feature 260 exhibitors, selected from nearly 500 applicants, as well as an Emerging Artists area for artists who have not exhibited previously. The art show will host Mountain Road Band from Harrisburg on Aug. 18 at 3 p.m. in the Mount Gretna Playhouse. Admission to the concert will be included with Aug. 18 show admission. Children’s events will include a percussion craft led by Gretna Music and drum circles on the Mount Gretna Playground led by Joyful ViBraysions from York. The Kids’ Art Show, created for families, is scheduled for both days under the direction of Christa Eck. Held at the Chautauqua Playground, the event is scheduled to occur from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. Children will sell their artwork and crafts. Children’s activities will also include make-and-take art activities, face painting, caricatures, and spin art. Daily entertainment will include Trist N’ Shout, consisting of street performers who will create balloons, juggle and walk on stilts in and around the park area known as the Fairy Garden. The art show will feature a gourmet food court of local restaurants and caterers, and Mount Gretna restaurants will also be open. The entertainment schedule on Saturday will consist of the following performances: Lucille at 10 a.m.,

Don Johnson at noon, the Jayplayers at 2 p.m., and Humble Gathering at 4 p.m. On Sunday, the Carmitchell Sisters will perform at noon; Roberts, Galbraith, Briody, Vollmer will perform at 1:30 p.m.; and Mountain Road Band will perform at 3 p.m. Proceeds from the art show are used to support cultural programs of the Pennsylvania Chautauqua and to maintain the Chautauqua’s historic buildings and grounds. The show also contributes substantially to the Mount Gretna Volunteer Fire Company and funds a variety of community projects throughout Mount Gretna. There is an admission fee. Children under 12 will be admitted for free. The admission fee includes parking in designated parking locations. This year, all parking will be at Soldiers Field on Timber Road in Mount Gretna, eliminating the need for shuttles from Philhaven Hospital. Upon arrival, patrons will be directed to the appropriate parking area. During the art show weekend, traffic flow in and out of Mount Gretna will be substantially altered. Route 117 will be closed from 6 a.m. on Aug. 17 to 5 p.m. on Aug. 18. All routes will be clearly marked and staffed. More than 200 volunteers from throughout the community help visitors find their way and keep things running smoothly at the art show. Kerry Royer and Linda Bell manage the logistics, and Bill Care and Mike Bell provide operational management. Hershey Rotary Club Presents Community Service Award

The Hershey Rotary Club has presented Karen Leader with the 2019 Community Service Award. Leader has served with Meals on Wheels, has been a leader of the Derry Presbyterian Church Mission and Peace Committee, and has served on the board of the Ronald McDonald House, where she has also staffed the Family Room Hospitality Cart. Her service includes other organizations in the capital region, such as the Allison Hill Clinic, Bethesda Mission, Boys and Girls Club, Goodwill Industries, YWCA, and Habitat for Humanity. The Hershey Rotary Club Community Service Award is presented annually to a person or service organization whose volunteer public service, community outreach, philanthropic activities, and/or community activities contribute to the community. The nominee may or may not be a member of the Hershey Rotary Club.

Date Announced For Soup Cook-Off

A portion of the proceeds from the Hershey Partnership Soup Cook-Off on Oct. 5 will benefit the Hershey Volunteer Fire Company. The Hershey Partnership has announced that its 16th annual Soup Cook-Off will be held on Saturday, Oct. 5. The fall family event will take place at the Hershey Volunteer Fire Company, 21 W.
