Library Friends Plan Family Fun Day The Friends of the Hershey Public Library will hold Friends Family Fun Day on Sunday, Aug. 4, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the library, 701 Cocoa Ave., Hershey. Friends Family Fun Day will take place during the annual book sale, which is slated to be held from Saturday, Aug. 3, to Thursday, Aug. 8, with a preview for Friends members on Friday, Aug. 2. Attendees can meet Laura O’Grady, the library director, and join in the fun with “A Universe of Stories” themed games, crafts and activities for people of all ages. The free event will include a bounce house and free ice cream. Registration is not required, and the Friends Family Fun Day at Hershey Public Library will take place on Sunday, Aug. 4, during the annual book sale. public is welcome to attend.

Derry Presbyterian To Host Program Of Chamber Music An afternoon of chamber music will be presented at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3, in the sanctuary at Derry Presbyterian Church, 248 E. Derry Road, Hershey. The program will feature rarely performed selections by Francaix, Piazzola, and Gjeilo. Performing musicians will be Mike Klucker, Laura Ibrahim, Megan Pfiester, Ethan Fasnacht, Dan Stokes, and others. Klucker is a member of Derry Church, a recent graduate of the Pennsylvania State University with a bachelor’s degree in music education, and a recipient of the Performer’s Recognition and Creative Achievement Awards. He teaches music at Fairfax County Public Schools and maintains a private lesson studio in the Springfield area. He also is a freelance cellist, making appearances with the Washington Metropolitan Philharmonic and Pennsylvania Chamber See Chamber Music pg 3
LDHS Graduates Receive Scholarships

Peggy Haake National VFW Auxiliary president Peggy Haake will make an official visit to Pennsylvania from Saturday, Aug. 24, through Monday, Aug. 26. She will attend the Pennsylvania VFW Auxiliary Program and Leadership Program the afternoon of Aug. 24. That evening, she will be escorted through an Aisle of Honor and attend a buffet and meet-and-greet at the Red Lion Hotel Harrisburg Hershey. On Sunday, Aug. 25, Haake will tour Indiantown Gap Cemetery and lay a wreath. She will then visit the Palmyra VFW for light refreshments and a meet-andgreet and then travel to Ronald McDonald House in Hershey. The group will tour Hershey Chocolate World after which they will return to the hotel and have dinner at a local VFW. On Monday, Aug. 26, Haake will leave for her next stop as she visits the states across the nation. The Rotary Club of Hummelstown recently presented five graduating Lower Dauphin High School (LDHS) students with $2,000 scholarships. Representing the Rotary Club at the high school’s senior award night was Rotary Club member Jean Seibert. She presented scholarships to Madison
Shradley, Josiah Helmer, Carli Little, Vanessa Skidmore, and Sophia Yocum. The scholarships, named in honor of Herbert A. Schaffner, are given to seniors who demonstrate good character and academic excellence. The scholarship fund is maintained with proceeds from the club’s annual golf
