he Calvin Ringers of Tower Hill Presbyterian Church in Red Bank, N.J., will present a concert at First United Methodist Church (UMC), 64 W. Chocolate Ave., Hershey, on Saturday, July 23, at 7 p.m. Consisting of 12 ringers - 10 teenage and two college-age - and ringing five octaves of handbells, the Calvin Ringers are part of the historic handbell program at Tower Hill, begun by Bob Ivey. The program will include repertoire for the full handbell choir, including arrangements of well-known melodies such as “Go Down, Moses” and “Holy Manna,” along with original handbell compositions of the sacred and secular varieties. Young musicians from Tower Hill Church’s solo ringing program, which began two years ago, will also perform. The handbell choir will feature pieces by some of the preeminent composers of solo handbell repertoire along with two works set by director Fiona Smith Sutherland - a movement from a Clementi Sonatina played on a bell tree and the “Theme from Schindler’s List.” The concert is free and open to everyone. The church is fully accessible.
