Korean War Veterans and Defenders Harrisburg Area Chapter will meet on Saturday, July 14, at 10 a.m. at the Vietnam War Facility, 8000 Derry St., Harrisburg. Korean War veterans and Korean Defenders are encouraged to attend. Korean War veterans include those who served anywhere during the time of the war from 1950 to 1953. A Korean Defender is anyone who served in Korea after the signing of the truce in 1953 until the present time. Chocolate Tour To Support Cancer Research The annual Chocolate Tour will take place on Saturday, Aug. 4, and will offer a variety of running, walking, and cycling opportunities. Events will start at the Milton S. Hershey School Athletic
Complex, 665 Brook Drive, Hershey. Options will include the Chocolate Tour 5K Walk, the Mike Geltrude Foundation 10K Walk, the Chocolate Tour 5K and 10K running races, and the
Chocolate Tour cycling events, with available distances including 10, 30, 50, 75, and 100 miles. Rest stops will be available every mile for runners and walkers to enjoy local
chocolate. Cyclists will enjoy rides through central Pennsylvania’s Amish country farms, wooded areas, and covered bridges while visiting areas surrounding the local historic chocolate towns. See Chocolate Tour pg 4
A variety of running, walking, and cycling events will be offered as part of the annual Chocolate Tour in Hershey on Aug. 4, which will raise funds for cancer research at Penn State University.

CHICKEN BARBECUE
Harrisburg River Rescue and the Keystone Aquatic Club will hold a chicken barbecue on Saturday, July 7, on City Island at the Riverside Marina, which is located across from the parking garage. Dinners will be available from 10 a.m. until they are sold out. Available for a set fee, each dinner will include a half-chicken, a baked potato, applesauce, and a roll. Proceeds from the event will go toward promoting boating education and safety and providing information about the dangers of low head dams. Club Recognizes Essay Contest Winners Library Plans Used Book Sale The Rotary Club of Hummelstown recently recognized three Lower Dauphin High School ninth-graders as part of the club’s Four Way Test Essay Contest. More than 85 students participated in the contest, and the top three were honored at a club meeting. Emily Brubaker won first place and received a $100 prize. Second place went to Brielle DeCampos, and third went to Sierra Slentz. Two other students, Calvin Carver and Bridget Wappman, received honorable mention certificates. Book sale shoppers searched for treasures at last year’s Palmyra Public Library book sale. The 2018 sale will be held from Saturday, July 14, through Thursday, July 19. Palmyra Public Library will hold its annual used book sale from Saturday through Thursday, July 14 through 19, at Palmyra First United Methodist Church, 520 E. Birch St., Palmyra. The book sale will open on July 14
with an early bird preview from 7:30 to 9 a.m. There will be an admission fee, and shoppers will be limited to 30 items each, with items sold at regular price. Beginning at 9 a.m., the sale will open to the general public and will See Book Sale pg 4

will begin its next adults-only Learn-toSkate program on Thursday, July 12, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Hersheypark Arena, Hersheypark Drive, Hershey. The six-week program is open to adults age 18 and over. Skate rental is available. Lessons will be tailored to fit participants. There is a cost to participate.
