Easter Candy Egg Sale Returns Seven Sorrows Catholic Church, 280 N. Race St., Middletown, will hold its annual sale of Easter candy eggs.

The handmade eggs will be available in peanut butter, buttercream, coconut, and peppermint. Each 2.4-ounce egg is dipped in white, dark, or milk chocolate and sold individually. The eggs have received local awards and recognition.

In 2019, nearly 81,000 eggs were sold through businesses and direct orders and at Seven Sorrows Parish.

Roughly 6,000 pounds of peanut butter, 870 pounds of butter/margarine, and 4,320 pounds of chocolate were used by more than 80 volunteers working over four months.

During its January meeting, members of the Hershey Lions Club celebrated citizenship and patriotism by recognizing

The Association of Faculty and Friends (AFF) of the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Penn State College of Medicine will hold its annual gala on Saturday, April 18, at 6:30 p.m. at the Hotel Hershey, 100 Hotel Road, Hershey. The event will have a “Roaring ’20s” theme, according to AFF president Lisa BracciniBarletta.

The Department of Humanities at Penn State College of Medicine, 700 Crescent Drive, Hershey, will host a Grand Rounds lecture titled “The Enigmatic (Unbearable) Lightness of (Being) Humanities in Medical Education.” The lecture will begin at noon on Tuesday, March 10, in Lecture Room A on the third floor.

The lecture will be presented

by Fredric W. Hafferty, Ph.D., professor of medical education, associate director for Program for Professionalism and Values, and associate dean of professionalism, College of Medicine, Mayo

Clinic. The lecture will take a look at the role of the humanities in medical education by exploring the potential for gaps between what is organizationally stated and what actually happens. Using session-generated data, the program will unpack the role of the humanities at Penn State College of Medicine.

Lower Dauphin High School (LDHS), 201 S. Hanover St., Hummelstown, will present the musical “Legally Blonde.” Performances will take place in the auditorium at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 5, through Saturday, March 7.

The show is based on the novel “Legally Blonde” by Amanda Brown and the 2001 film of the same name. It tells the story of Elle Woods, a sorority girl who enrolls at Harvard Law School to win back her ex-boyfriend.

Parental guidance is advised, as some material may be inappropriate for children age 13 and under.

The show features a cast of more than 65 students. Senior Emma McQuinn will play the lead role of Elle. The cast also includes Caiden Covell as Emmett Forrest, Cameron Snelbaker as Warner Huntington III, Matthew Little as Callahan, Madi Miduri as Paulete Buonofonte, Sophia Ditty as Vivienne Kensington, and Olivia Meyers as Brooke Wyndham. Additional seniors in the cast include Richie Johnson, Amy Miller, Mauricette Musser, Devin Roth, and Ben Sierer. Dance co-captains are

Bann is the senior sales manager for Kalahari Resort and Convention Center in the Pocono Mountains. She is a certified meeting planner who has worked in the meetings and hospitality industry for more than 10 years. She works with many Pennsylvania state associations, corporations and nonprofit organizations to plan successful fundraisers, conferences and events. She is an active participant in hospitality and meetings industry associations.

Bann participates in fundraising events for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the American Cancer Society, and the Michael Ryan Zodda Foundation. She has lived in the Hershey area for 12 years as her husband, Darrin Bann, completed the M.D./Ph.D. program through Penn State College of Medicine. He is now an otolaryngology head and neck surgery resident at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.

In a tribute, Henry’s wife, Jackie Henry, and son Zachary attended the event and received the award in his memory. Henry passed away on Jan. 2. Several of his fellow officers attended the event as well. In his memory, the Hershey Lions Club gifted a donation to the Derry Township Police Department K-9 Unit.

Sniderman has served for three years with the Hershey Volunteer Fire Company. Gallo works with students who are overcoming adversity.

Automotive Technicians from pg 1 Jonah Eckert and Trevor Parks, students at York County School of Technology, were the winners of the 2020 Skip Wagner Automotive Technology Competition held on Feb. 20 at the Antique Auto Museum in Hershey and sponsored by the Pennsylvania Automotive Association (PAA). The competition aims to build awareness for the role of automotive technicians in today’s workforce and spotlight their specialized skills and professionalism.

Eckert and Parks worked with Stetler Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram in York to prepare for the competition. At the competition, the students faced a test of advanced automotive diagnostic skills on an assigned 2020 Dodge vehicle with predetermined defects for the students to discover. The test required technical aptitude, as well as computer, math and problem-solving skills, according to John Devlin, president of the PAA. Eckert and Parks faced 10 teams that had qualified for the competition by taking a written exam.

The 2020 vehicles were supplied by area franchised dealerships. Dealership personnel assisted in setting the defects for the students to locate and judging each team’s skills.

Eckert and Parks each received a $2,000 scholarship from the PAA Foundation. The foundation also awarded scholarships to the

“Let’s Cook” Class Set TypeOneNation Summit Posted Bowl For Kids’ Sake Events Set Penn State Extension will offer “Let’s Cook for Weight Management” from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, March 16. The class will be held at the Lebanon County Penn State Extension Office, 2120 Cornwall Road, Suite 1, Lebanon.

The hands-on cooking class will teach participants how to use a variety of ingredients to make healthy meals to help manage weight by eating fewer calories while still feeling satisfied and full.

The class is part of “Let’s Cook With Penn State Extension,” a cooking class series that teaches individuals how to better manage their weight through healthy eating. To register,

April 24, at Palmyra Bowling, Palmyra. On Saturday, April 25, at 2:30 p.m., an event will be held at ABC East, Harrisburg.

Teams are made up of five individuals. Each participant is asked to raise a minimum of $80, but there is no cap on the amount a team may raise. This year’s event goal is to raise $150,000. All proceeds from the event stay local, supporting the youths within the communities that are raising the funds. Hershey Area Playhouse will offer a musical theater class for students in grades four to 12. Back for its second year, the one-month class will run on Saturdays from March 14 to April 4 and introduce students to the songs of Broadway musicals.
