The William H. and Marion C. Alexander Family Library, 200 W. Second St., Hummelstown, invites teenagers ages 12 to 17 to visit on the first Thursday of the month from 6 to 7 p.m. Teen Night at the Library will offer opportunities to try new tech toys, make crafts, and enjoy a new activity each month. On Feb. 7, attendees will find out how many board games they can play in an hour while fueled by chocolate. The 14th annual Dauphin County Master Gardener Spring Workshop Series will take place on Saturdays, Feb. 23 to March 23. Registration will begin at 9 a.m., with programs from 9:30 to 11 a.m. The workshops will be held at the Dauphin County Agriculture and Natural Resources Center, 1451 Peters Mountain Road, Dauphin. Refreshments will be provided, and door prizes will be awarded. Topics will include “Gardening Tools: Right Garden Tool - Right Project” on Feb. 23, “Color and Design in the Garden” on March 2, “Growing Turmeric and Ginger in High Tunnels” on March 9, “Unlock the Secrets to Your Soil: What the Soil Test Means” on March 16, and “Orchid Maintenance and Care” on March 23. Organization Sets Tour Information Session Playhouse Plans “Dearly Departed”
A group visited Normandy, France, in 2017 as part of the Hershey Derry Township Historical Society’s World War II tour. The organization will provide information about its upcoming fall tour during a presentation on Saturday, Feb. 23. The Hershey Derry Township Historical Society will host an information session on its fall World War II tour, “In the Footsteps of Major Dick Winters.” The information session will be on Saturday, Feb. 23, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the community room of the historical society’s headquarters, located at 40 Northeast Drive, Hershey. Historical society member and travel coordinator Laura Passuello will answer questions about the
itinerary and costs, and previous participants will share their experiences. This will be the historical society’s 11th year of offering the World War II European battlefield expedition. Hershey Area Playhouse, 830 Cherry Drive, Hershey, has announced the first mainstage show of its 20th anniversary season. “Dearly Departed” will be presented on Thursdays through Saturdays, Feb. 7 to 9 and 14 to 16, at 7:30 p.m. and on Sundays, Feb. 10 and 17, at 2 p.m. A comedy by David Bottrell and Jessie Jones, the show is about a family in the South.
