Hershey/Hummelstown/Palmyra NATIONAL WEAR RED DAY IS FRIDAY, FEB. 1 page 2

JANUARY 30, 2019

Lower Dauphin High School, 201 S. Hanover St., Hummelstown, will serve helpings of spaghetti with a side of classic 1970s music on Saturday, Feb. 2. The cast of the high school’s spring musical, “Mamma Mia,” will serve a spaghetti dinner as a fundraiser. At several points throughout the evening, the student waiters will perform songs from the musical, featuring songs by the group Abba. The annual dinner will feature all-you-can-eat spaghetti with a choice of meatless or meat sauce, as well as bread, fresh salad, an assortment of hot and cold beverages, and a variety of home-baked desserts. Tickets for the dinner are available from any cast member or at the door, with separate prices set for adults and for children under 10. Proceeds will help cover the costs of producing the show, such as costumes, programs and set construction. More information may be received by calling 717-566-5393.

Groups Will Revive Community Dinner Event The Federated Women’s Club of Hershey has joined forces with the Hershey Lions Club to renew the annual pork and sauerkraut community dinner. The event will take place on Sunday, March 3, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 433 E. Main St., Hummelstown. The dinner was a tradition for more than 30 years and was last served in 2017. It helped fund scholarships totaling more than $100,000 for high school students. The Hershey Lions Club, upon learning of the tradition’s discontinuation, saw an opportunity for the clubs to work together for the benefit of the community. The upcoming meal will feature the homemade desserts for which the Federated Women’s Club of Hershey is well-known. Takeout meals will be available. Tickets will be pre-sold starting

in early February. The Federated Women’s Club of Hershey, founded in 1962, supports a variety of local charities, including Cocoa Packs, the Hershey Food Bank, domestic violence shelters, the People Movers, Camp Catherine and local libraries. More about the Federated Women’s Club of Hershey is available by searching for “Federated Women’s Club of Hershey” or “@FedWomensClubHershey” on Facebook. The Hershey Lions Club has been continuously serving the residents of Derry Township since the club’s organization and charter in 1944. Projects include eye exams and glasses for residents in need, scholarships for local students, sponsorship of youth sports teams, and medical equipment assistance.
