St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church will present a performance by The Tamburitzans, a multicultural song and dance company from Pittsburgh. The show will take place on Saturday, Feb. 22, at 2 p.m. at Middletown Area High School, 1155 N. Union St., Middletown. The Tamburitzans company is dedicated to perpetuating international culturalheritage through performances. This year’s show, “Symbols - Expressions of Culture,” will highlight the music and dance of different countries and cultures from around the world. For more than 80 years, The Tamburitzans company has entertained audiences with elaborate costumes and versatile musicians, singers and dancers. The performers are all fulltime students who bring traditional and
international cultures to the modern stage. More information is available at www.thetamburitzans.org. Advance tickets will be discounted. Separate fees have been set for adults and for seniors, college students with ID, and students age 18 and under. Groups of 10 or more will also receive a discount. A Meet the Tammies dance will follow the show at the church social hall, located at 601 S. Harrisburg St., Oberlin, with music by Orchestra Sviraj. A separate admission fee will be charged for the dance, which will benefit the Serbian Orthodox Teachers and Youth Association. The Knights of Columbus of the Church of the Holy Spirit in Palmyra, Council 10502, recently presented Palmyra Area Recreation and Parks Commission with a donation of $1,000 to help provide scholarships for economically disadvantaged youths so they may participate in recreational programs. The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) asks customers to help letter carriers deliver mail safely by clearing snow and ice from sidewalks, stairs, porches, street approach, and mailboxes.
