The Lower Dauphin High School Diversity Club and the Unity in Diversity Foundation will host the fourth annual Unity in Diversity Festival on Saturday, Sept. 29, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Schaffner Park, located at the corner of Poplar Avenue and Water Street in Hummelstown. Activities will include arts and crafts for people of all ages, live performances, dancing, music, food, henna tattoos and more. The event is free and open to the public. BOOK SALE
will hold their annual book sale at Trinity United Methodist Church, 210 W. Main St, Hummelstown, on Wednesday, Oct. 3, through Friday, Oct. 5, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, Oct. 6, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 5 will be half-price day, and Oct. 6 will feature a bag sale. The sale will feature previously owned books in a variety of categories for adults, with special categories including large-print books, serial romance titles, and westerns. Children’s books will be categorized by age level. Media for sale will include books on CD, MP3s, CDs, DVDs, games, records, and puzzles. A Friends-only sale will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 2, from 5 to 8 p.m. Individuals can join the Friends group at the door to shop the sale early. All proceeds benefit the library. Brass Triumphant will present a concert on Sunday, Sept. 30, at 7 p.m. at Londonderry Village, 1200 Grubb Road, Palmyra, in the DiMatteo Worship Center. The nine-member ensemble is from central Pennsylvania and has performed at various locations in the area. A freewill offering will be accepted to purchase special wheelchairs for the health care centers. The public is invited.

Flute, Piano Duo Will Perform Concert The duo Silver, Wood and Ivory will perform at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 7, at Derry Presbyterian Church, 248 E. Derry Road, Hershey. Tracy Dietrich, flutist, and Cindy Keller Witttenberg, pianist, are the two musicians who founded Silver, Wood and Ivory. They will perform music on an assortment of flutes and recorders, piano and Celtic harp. Dietrich earned a Bachelor of Arts in music from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She is a professional flutist and freelance performer. Wittenberg earned a Bachelor of Science in music education at Elizabethtown College and a master’s degree in piano performance at Peabody Conservatory. She taught keyboard theory to high school pianists in the Peabody Preparatory Department and middle school vocal and classroom music in the Penn Manor School District. Wittenberg was a member of the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra and pianist at Manor Brethren in Christ (BIC) Church in Mountville, where she
accompanied the choir and created special music and accompaniments with the praise band on piano and keyboard for eight years. After 35 years of teaching and coaching other pianists, she retired to write, record and perform full time with Silver, Wood and Ivory. The duo has performed together ever since the ladies met at Manor BIC. Silver, Wood and Ivory just finished recording its 15th CD, called “Imagine.” The concert will open Derry Presbyterian Church’s 2018-19 Arts Alive cultural series. A freewill offering will be received. Handicapped-accessible parking and an elevator will be available. The Arts Alive season will continue with Swan Songs on Sunday, Nov. 18, featuring Beverly Butts, clarinet; Jennifer Groves, soprano; and Sean McCarthy, piano. Mount Calvary Announces Benefit Auction Mount Calvary Christian School (MCCS), which serves students in preschool through 12th grade, will hold its 26th annual benefit auction on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 28 and 29, at the school, 629 Holly St., Elizabethtown. The event will kick off on Sept. 28 with a barbecue dinner catered by a popular Mount Joy-based eatery. Dinner will be served from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., and takeout meals will be available in addition to the eat-in option. Separate ticket prices have been set for adults and for children age 10 and under. Preorders were requested by Sept. 24, but a limited number of additional meals will be available on that evening for those who did not preorder. At 6 p.m. on Sept. 28, the live auction will begin and will feature various experiences and vacation packages, as well as See Auction pg 2

Chorus To Hold Dinner, Bake Sale The Hershey Community Chorus will hold a spaghetti dinner and bake sale on Tuesday, Oct. 2, at Mohler Senior Center, 25 Hope Drive, Hershey. Dinner will be served from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. or until sold out. Takeouts will be available. The meal will include spaghetti with homemade meat or marinara sauce accompanied with tossed green salad, bread, and a beverage. Tickets will be discounted for children age 12 and under.

Eastern Regional Fall Meet Scheduled

Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) National and the Hershey Region AACA will welcome antique and classic vehicle enthusiasts from all over the world to Hershey for the Eastern Division National Fall Meet from Wednesday, Oct. 10, through Saturday, Oct. 13. The event will feature a flea market with 9,000 vendor spaces and more than 1,000 vehicles for sale in the Car Corral. Admission is free to the public for all events. Programs will be offered for both children and adults. All events will be held on the grounds surrounding Hersheypark and the Giant Center.
Limited spaces are available to AACA members to sell antique cars in the Car Corral. The Car Corral will begin at 9 a.m. on Oct. 10. On Oct. 13, 1,250 antique vehicles will enter the show field starting at 7 a.m. Judging will begin at 10 a.m. At noon in front of the Giant Center, Juniors at Hershey will celebrate “90 years of the Plymouth Automobile.” Participants will disassemble an engine and identify engine components.
