About a year ago, when Steve Loewen was preparing to hold the 2017 New Holland Antique Car, Gas Engine, and Tractor Show, he had a revelation. “I talked to (Garden Spot Fire Rescue chief) Darryl (Keiser), and I mentioned that the 1918 American LaFrance fire engine would be turning 100 in the same year the 1948 Mack fire engine would turn 70,” said Loewen. With that realization, the theme for the car show in 2018 was set. Loewen was excited about the theme’s appeal to families as well. “(Children) love fire trucks,” he added. When the 37th annual car show is held in the New Holland Community Memorial Park, 400 E. Jackson St., New Holland, on Sunday, July 8, the event will put the spotlight on firstresponder vehicles, including ambulances, See Car Show pg 4
