Family 5K Supports CrossNet Christmas Program By Ann Mead Ash
When Marcia and Ken Leahy decided to invite extended family to spend Thanksgiving with them in Bucks County more than a decade ago, the couple wanted to add a special activity along with the holiday feast. “My husband thought, ‘Wouldn’t it be fun to do something meaningful and also fun?’” recalled Marcia. “He thought of the 5K, and I thought of doing it as a ministry to raise money (for an important cause).” The result was the Leahy Family 5K, which was held for the 13th time on Nov. 28. Several years ago, Marcia and Ken moved to the New Holland area and became involved with CrossNet Ministries. This year, the family chose to sponsor six children from three families through the CrossNet Ministries
Christmas Gift Program. “We used to collect money, but this time, we sent out the wish lists and the family
members signed up to buy the gifts,” said Marcia, who had all the items at her house by Thanksgiving Day. She
worked to categorize them as they arrived. Some family members had the items shipped to the Leahys’ home See Family 5K pg 3
