Basketball Tournament To Benefit Youths When the Rotary Club of Lancaster/Franklin & Marshall (F&M) College Charitable Basketball Extravaganza started nearly 40 years ago, the idea behind the event was to fill an empty spot in the January F&M basketball schedule. Bruce Holran, then F&M director of public relations, approached then school athletic director Dr. William Marshall with the idea to establish a four-team men’s collegiate basketball tournament early in January. The event would bring people to the college and raise funds for a local nonprofit organization. Since that time, the event has grown dramatically, now including eight top men’s and women’s NCAA Division III games. The men’s William Marshall Tip-Off Tournament will feature F&M, See Tournament pg 4
