FARM SHOW MEALS
New Holland United Methodist Church (UMC) will sell dinners for eating on-site or takeout during the New Holland Farm Show on Thursday, Oct. 3, through Saturday, Oct. 5. Pork and sauerkraut and chicken potpie dinners will be served from 4 to 7 p.m. VOCAL PRESENTATION
The Gap Male Chorus will be in concert on Sunday, Oct. 6, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 221 E. Main St., New Holland, at 7 p.m. Admission will be free, but a freewill offering will be received. The concert will include classic hymn arrangements, Southern gospel songs, spirituals and modernstyle selections. TENANTS’ RIGHTS
CrossNet Ministries will host a presentation on tenants’ rights on Monday, Oct. 7, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The presentation will take place in the conference room at the Food and Nutrition Center, 127 W. Franklin St., New Holland, and attendees should use the front entrance. A representative of the Lancaster Housing Opportunity Partnership will present the program. Back in August 2017, two couples that live at Garden Spot Village (GSV) were recruited to oversee a monthly community meal at CrossNet Ministries Youth Center, 110 W. Franklin St., New Holland. The four volunteers have never looked back. Now, Fred and Eileen Eck and Don and Lois Aldrich want area residents to know that all members of the community are welcome to attend the meal, which is held on the fourth Monday of the month from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The next one will be held Monday, Oct. 28. “It’s a blessing for them to have a night out,” said Eileen. “It’s a community meal,” added Don. Stumptown Mennonite Church, 2813 Stumptown Road, Bird-in-Hand, will host a fall art and craft fair on Saturday, Oct. 12. Walk To End Epilepsy To Raise Awareness, Research Funds By Dayna M. Reidenouer
Aaron Wingert of Lancaster was 30 when he experienced his first epileptic seizure. “Everything is normal in your life, and then you wake up in the back of an ambulance,” he said. Nineteen-year-old Nadine DeBalko of Adamstown was diagnosed with epilepsy at age 12 and had to change her perceptions about the disorder. “I thought it was just older people who had it,” she recalled. BCS Schedules Fall Festival Bethany Christian Services (BCS) of Central Pennsylvania will hold a Fall Festival at Little Springs Farm, 1690 Reading Road, Mohnton, on Saturday, Nov. 2, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The rain date for the event will be Saturday, Nov. 9. Children and their parents are invited to enjoy the festival, which will include food and animals. BCS representatives will make short
presentations about the organization and the equine-assisted services provided by its partnership with Little Springs Farm. Cindy Martin of Little Springs Farm noted that she has seen children changed by the services the farm can offer in conjunction with BCS. “Nothing gives me greater pleasure than seeing a child progress from chaos to a place of healing,” she said. “I love that See BCS pg 2
