New Holland area children line up in The Oasis at Petra Church, where students in third, fourth, fifth, and sixth grades who attend New Holland Elementary School will have an opportunity to take part in Elanco Released Time on Thursdays when school is in session from Sept. 13 through April 11, 2019.

Elanco Released Time will observe its 25th year when the program meets for again this September. During the month of August, as New Holland coordinator Deb Reimers was getting ready for the fall term to start, she realized the program is poised to grow again. “It’s very exciting to me, noted Reimers. “We are already being prepared for growth. We have the extra transportation and extra teachers (we need). For the 2017-18 school year, Released Time registered 109 students, transporting them from New Holland Elementary each Thursday afternoon to Petra Church, utilizing the Petra bus and two vans. This year, when the

program begins meeting on Thursdays at Petra Church on Airport Road in New Holland on Sept. 13, the Church of the Nazarene bus will replace the two vans to transport students. The program will be held from 2:15 to 3:15 p.m. each Thursday that school is in session through April 11, 2019. Reimers noted that each year the program is held, about 20 new students take part. This year, third- and fourthgrade students and fifth- and sixthgrade students will be divided up, with the younger grades meeting in Petra’s multipurpose room and the older students meeting in The Oasis. “ We expanded our teaching staff from one teacher, song leader, and tech (person) to three teachers, two tech people, plus a song leader, said Reimers, who noted that the team will work with the students during large group time, which consists of prayer, songs, and a lesson See Released Time pg 7

Servant Stage And LBC To Produce “Titanic Musical By Ann Mead Ash

Wally Calderon, artistic director with Servant Stage Company, admits that there is an element of preconception in staging “Titanic, the 1997 musical with music and lyrics by Maury Yeston and a book by Peter Stone. “There is no

surprise ending, said Calderon of the musical that has been on his shortlist of shows for some time. Calderon loves the show because of its “character-driven depiction of the historical events and the stories it tells that draw audience members into the story. “(Audience members grow) See Servant Stage pg 4

Members of the cast of the Servant Stage production of “Titanic include (from left) Rebekah Hill, Jessica Dey, Rob Bigley, Adler Roberts, Matthew Wilhelm, Donna Schilke, and Jon Rider. The show is being staged in partnership with Lancaster Bible College, and presentations will be held at the college’s Good Shepherd Chapel on several dates in September.

Fairmount Fundraising Event Moves To Farm Crest By Ann Mead Ash

“We are moving the auction and the barbecue to the Farm Crest campus, said Peter Passage, stewardship director at Fairmount. “This is a permanent change, added Carol Swailes, Fairmount public relations coordinator. The organization is moving the 29th annual Benefit Auction and Chicken Barbecue because Fairmount broke ground on July 23 for the 45-unit Wheat Ridge apartment building in the area where the barbecue has traditionally been held. On Saturday, Sept. 8, Fairmount will hold the fundraiser at 1100 Farm Crest See Fairmount pg 3

Displaying items that will be sold at the annual Fairmount Benefit Auction and Chicken Barbecue to support the Sharing Fund are (from left) Carol Swailes, Betty Cannell, and Peter Passage. This year’s fundraiser will be held on the Farm Crest campus on Sept. 8.
