American Legion Riders Post 662 will hold the sixth annual Cover Our Vets With Hope Bridge Ride on Saturday, July 21. Registration will be at Post 662, 35 S. Hoover Ave., New Holland, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. The ride will travel through Lancaster County and will highlight historic covered bridges. Afterward, there will be a chicken barbecue dinner, with entertainment. Separate fees have been set per rider and per passenger. has announced that yard sales and Breakfast in the Park will be held on Saturday, July 28, during Community Yard Sale Weekend. Events will start at 7 a.m. at Terre Hill Park, 210 Lancaster Ave., Terre Hill. Breakfast will be available under the pavilion. Yard sale spaces are available for a nominal fee; preregistration is not needed. National Night Out (NNO) will be held at the New Holland Park, 400 E. Jackson St., from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 7. It will be hosted by New Holland Police Department. This year will mark New Holland’s first time participating in the event. All activities will be offered free of charge. Highlights will include entertainment by country musician Sam Schmidthuber, along with a bike rodeo, family Zumba, a dunk tank, ladder truck rides, a K9 unit demonstration, and food. Archery Club On Target At National Competition Just two years ago, Joe Weinhold had only shot a bow a few times, and he did not own one of his own. Just two years ago, there were no Scholastic 3D Archery (S3DA) Programs in Pennsylvania.

Local Ministry Reaches Out With Visual Bible Lessons By Ann Mead Ash

Reading Archery Club S3DA team member Joe Weinhold shot a 440 at the National S3DA Championships, earning the runner-up position in the tournament.

On a corner in Akron, where Main Street and Route 272 intersect, a small building is home to Bible Visuals International (BVI). The organization, which was founded nearly 60 years ago by area resident Helen Odenwelder, meets needs around the world for visual teaching materials about God. Tom Luttmann, executive director of BVI, explained that the organization has endeavored to bring the Bible to children and adults in three ways. “We have visualized Bible lessons, which we are updating with a colorization process; visualized biographies of missionaries and other Christians from different See Bible Lessons pg 2

A Support System For Families Cavod Campers To Stage “The Lion King Jr.” By Ann Mead Ash

There is a saying that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Maryanne O’Neill and Emmie Romberger, who are both staff members with Safe Families for Children, a program of Bethany Christian Services (BCS), believe this expression to be true. Safe Families is a ministry that helps parents experiencing a crisis by providing a Christian host family to care for their children until they can be reunited. “We are the preventative service, which saves funds,” explained Romberger, who added that the central Pennsylvania chapter has a 97 percent return-to-family rate. According to O’Neill, the program is much less costly

Nearly 50 Cavod Musical Theatre Camp students ages 10 to 17 will make up the cast of “The Lion King Jr.,” which will be staged at Cavod Theatre at 2 and 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 28, and Sunday, July 29. Members of the public are invited to purchase tickets and bring their families to the shows.

Bethany Christian Services’ Safe Families for Children program was able to provide Clark with a host home until his mother was released to care for him.
