The Gap Male Chorus will be in concert on Sunday, May 12, at Garden Spot Village, 433 S. “It’s a really quick and funny play,” said director Geoff Burkholder when describing “Gladys in Wonderland,” which will be presented on Mother’s Day weekend by the Community Homeschool Players. “Gladys in Wonderland” will be staged at Conestoga Mennonite Church, 2779 Main St. (Route 23), Morgantown, on Friday, May 10, at 7 p.m. and on Saturday, May 11, at 2 and 7 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door. A portion of the admission fees will be presented as a donation to the Twin Valley Fire Company. “Gladys in Wonderland” tells the story of 87-year-old Gladys, who spends her days eating doughnuts and scanning the obituary page. Steve Deck, chair of the Long’s Park Summer Music Series committee, said that the group had a specific goal in mind when choosing performers for this year’s schedule. “Getting more music everybody knows was key,” said Deck. “This year we will have several bands that will play more familiar music.” With that aim in mind, the committee has lined up an Eagles tribute band, an evening of Beatles tunes, and a celebration of Woodstock among a number of other musical presentations for the organization’s summer season, which will run from Sunday, June 2, through Sunday, Aug. 25. After Cristin Germaine held the third Dare to Dream Single Moms’ Day Out in 2018, she felt a change was in order. “By the end of 2018, I was talking with trusted friends about where to go with Dare to Dream,” recalled Germaine, who felt the Lord pushing her to expand the audience for the next event. “This will be a brand-new venture,” said Germaine of the free re-envisioned event that will be held on Saturday, June 22, at Calvary Church, 1051 Landis Valley Road, Lancaster, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The day will be called “Dream BIG!: Ignite Your Passion,” and it will be open to men and teenagers age 15 and up in addition to women. The event will include praise and worship led by Matt and Kim Goss, speakers, and a number of workshops. “This is for anyone, (whether) married or single,” said Germaine, who explained that the “BIG” in Dream BIG! In September 2018, Cristin Germaine recorded the theme song for the first Dream BIG! event, which will be held at Calvary Church on June 22. A launch party for the song will be held on May 13. Dream BIG! will include workshops and more to encourage men, women, and teenagers age 15 and up wishing to pursue a dream.
