Elizabethtown Area High School (EAHS) has recognized Sadie Givens and Nicholas Kreider as the Rotary Club Students of the Month for November. This honor celebrates students who demonstrate excellence in academics, leadership, and community involvement, highlighting their positive impact on the school and the community. Sadie is the daughter of Gwendolyn Boyer of Bainbridge and Joel Givens of Elizabethtown. She is involved in Key Club, Model United Nations, Newspaper Club, Student Council, Red Cross Club, Women in STEM, Bible Club, Club Ophelia, choir, and Link Crew. She has served as vice president of the Red Cross Club, treasurer and head of fundraising for Women in STEM, and publicity secretary for Student Council. Sadie plans to pursue a degree in biology or an accelerated occupational therapy program, with the goal of continuing her studies toward a master’s or doctorate in occupational therapy. Nicholas is the son of Dave and Lois Kreider of Elizabethtown. He is a

National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist and was inducted into the National Honor Society. In addition, Nicholas has consistently earned a place on the honor roll throughout high school and has been recognized as an AP Scholar with Distinction. Nicholas participates in the high school concert band and orchestra, marching band, jazz band, and musical pit orchestra. He also competes in Science Olympiad and mathematics competitions. Outside of school, Nicholas is a member of the Bainbridge Community Band and serves at his church, Cross Roads BIC, by volunteering weekly with youth group activities, operating camera equipment, and joining annual mission trips. Following graduation, Nicholas plans to attend a four-year university to study mathematics and physics.

Rotary District 7390 will hold a 1-mile walk/run in the spirit of fellowship, service, and peace in Harrisburg on New Year’s Day, Thursday, Jan. 1. Participants should meet at Soldier’s Grove, 531 Commonwealth Ave., Harrisburg, at noon. The walk will start at 12:30 p.m. One of Rotary International’s major objectives is working toward an international understanding of positive peace. District 7390 is designated as a Peace Builder District and aims to continue Rotary International’s legacy of working toward positive peace on both local and global levels. Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) recently offered ways the public can prepare for the winter season. Members of the public can access travel information on nearly 40,000 state-maintained roadway miles year-round at www.511PA .com, and during the winter, they can find plow-truck locations and details of when state-maintained roadways were last plowed. The information is provided via PennDOT’s Automated Vehicle Location technology, which uses units in the department-owned and rented plow trucks to send a cellular signal showing a truck’s location. To help the public prepare for the season and share information about winter services, PennDOT offers operational information and traveler resources
