Comedy And Chaos In “The Curious Savage” BY CATHY MOLITORIS

“This is a comedy, but it’s also a mystery,” said Tori Bressler, who plays Lily Belle Savage in Elizabethtown Area High School’s fall play, “The Curious Savage.” “You can expect some laughs, some chaos and tons of fun.” The show will be performed in the high school auditorium at 600 E. High St. on Thursday, Nov. 11, at 7 p.m. and on Saturday, Nov. 13, at 1 and 7 p.m. “This play is about an older woman, Ethel P. Savage, who is deemed crazy by her stepchildren, and they move her into a place where a lot of other crazy people live,” explained Keli Georges, a senior who portrays Ethel P. Savage. Her character is an elderly widow who has inherited $10 million from her husband and who intends to give it all away to people who wish to pursue their foolish dreams. Her family has her committed to a sanatorium called The Cloisters to prevent her from giving up their family fortune. “You can expect to leave this

show with a different perspective than you had when you came in,” Keli stated. “This is a play that will get you thinking.” Bryan Murray plays Jeff, one of the residents of The Cloisters. He said he wasn’t familiar with “The Curious Savage” before he signed up to audition, but he’s happy to be a part of the show. “It’s full of a bunch of fun characters who we could really dig our teeth into,” he said. “Each character has his own quirks, and it’s been really fun to get to explore that. … We had the chance to do a lot of character work early on in the rehearsals, which was great. It gave us a chance to understand who we are playing and really flesh out the characters.” Tori noted that the show is full of a wide range of characters, from serious to snooty to goofy. “You’re going to see a lot of different personalities on stage,” she stated. The show features a cast of 11 and a crew of six. Stage managers are Abigail Franz, Emma Dixon and Emma Weaver. Technical managers are Connor Alspaugh and Emma Martin. See Comedy pg 7
