EAHS Will Celebrate Homecoming BY CATHY MOLITORIS
ixteen students have been named to the homecoming court at Elizabethtown Area High School. The school will celebrate homecoming with a football game against Conestoga Valley High School at the White Family Dental Stadium at Thompson Field on Friday, Oct. 2, followed by a dance on Saturday, Oct. 3, on the turf field. The candidates for queen are Kendall Davies, Allison Evans, Ashley Geesey, Jessica Gilbert, Autumn NyeSmith, Alyssa Olson, Ainsley Raybold and Julia Sikora. The candidates for king are Vincent Checco, Mitchell Garber, Patrick Gilhool, Tristan Lentz, Trent McBride, Bryan Murray, Wyatt Nicholas Rachael and Cohen Weaver. Kendall is the daughter of Mike and Fawn Davies of Elizabethtown. She is captain of the varsity soccer team and plays varsity lacrosse. She participates with Mini-THON and is a member of the National Honor Society (NHS). She plans to attend college to become a nurse. Kendall will be escorted by Tristan Lentz. He is the son of Glen and Heather Lentz of Elizabethtown. He is a member of Student Council and the boys’ volleyball team. He is also a section leader for the marching band and participates in the theater program. He plans to attend college to major in business. Allison is the daughter of Andy and Jodie Evans of Elizabethtown. She is vice president of the Class of 2022, senior captain and Section 2 All Star of the girls’ tennis team and a member of the bowling and track and field teams. She plays flute in the concert and marching bands as well as the orchestra, where she is section leader. She is a member of the newspaper club, Roots and

Shoots club, NHS and Key Club; is a finance committee member for Mini-THON; and is a peer tutor. She is active at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Middletown. After graduation, she plans to major in a science-related field at college. Allison will be escorted by Trent McBride. Trent, of Elizabethtown, is the son of Adam McBride and Brenda McBride. He is captain of the boys’ tennis team and a section leader in the band. He is an Eagle Scout and a youth leader at his church. After college, he will embark on a twoyear mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and plans to attend college. Ashley, of Bainbridge, is the daughter of Gwen Geesey and Chris Geesey. She is class vice president, executive chair of Mini-THON and a member of Student Council. She
serves as a Bigs and Littles mentor and is a member of the NHS. She is also a member of the youth group at Newport Church. After graduation, she plans to go to college to pursue a medical career. Ashley will be escorted by Wyatt Nicholas Rachael. He is the son of Nick and Heather Rachael of Elizabethtown. He is a member of the soccer and swim teams and participates in Mini-THON. He plays soccer with the Hershey Soccer Club as well. After high school, he will attend and play soccer for Penn College. Jessica is the daughter of Matt and Jill Gilbert of Elizabethtown. She is a member of NHS and the girls’ soccer and lacrosse teams and serves as Mini-THON secretary. Outside of school, she plays with the Hershey Soccer Club and Lanco Elite Lacrosse Club. She plans to
attend college for pre-med. Jessica’s escort will be Mitchell Garber. He is the son of Greg and Anne Garber of Elizabethtown. He is a captain of the soccer team and a member of NHS and both the swim and baseball teams. He volunteers at Elizabethtown Church of the Brethren. He plans to attend college for business and to play baseball. Autumn is the daughter of Tom and Pam NyeSmith of Elizabethtown. She is a member of the girls’ volleyball team and was a captain during her junior year. She also served on the Mini-THON committee. She plans to attend the University of North Carolina Wilmington to study nursing, with the goal of becoming a neonatal nurse. Autumn will be escorted by Patrick Gilhool. He is the son of Patrick and Kristin Gilhool of Elizabethtown.
Take A Bite Out Of Fall CATHY MOLITORIS
Nothing says “fall” like apples, and Haldeman Mansion will put the fruit in the spotlight at the 16th annual Apple Fall Festival. The festival will be held at the mansion, 230 Locust Grove Road, Bainbridge, from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 10. “This is a fun day for families,” said Elaine Jackson, corresponding secretary for the Haldeman Mansion Preservation Society. The festivities will include plenty of activities for kids such as bobbing for apples, a coloring contest, Frisbee throwing, jumping rope and more. An extensive menu of food options will be offered, including grilled Groff ’s bratwurst, hot dogs, homemade baked beans, applesauce, mulled cider, chicken corn soup, bean soup, vegetarian apple squash soup and chips. Apple-focused desserts will include apple crisp, apple dumplings, apple pie, apple cake and more. Apples for the festival are donated by Masonic Villages. See Apple Fall Festival pg 7
