Northwest Regional Police Department will host National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 7, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the West Donegal Township Building, 1 Municipal Drive, Elizabethtown. The event will feature a fireworks show, fire trucks, police cars, ambulances, snow cones, food, milkshakes, face painting, pony rides, bounce houses, reptiles, “Star Wars” characters, and more. The Elizabethtown Area Chamber of Commerce (EACC) will hold its August Luncheon on Tuesday, Aug. 14, from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Fighting Dragons Martial Arts and Fitness Center, 101 E. Community Place On Washington To Launch Capital Campaign By Chelsea Peifer

Peggy McFarland estimates that for the last 20 years or so, there has been talk of the need for a building that could house all of Elizabethtown’s community service organizations in one place. “Everything is very scattered, and that makes it very difficult for clients to access everything,” explained McFarland, who serves as a clinical social worker and board chair for Elizabethtown Community Housing and Outreach Services (ECHOS). The goal was to find a space in town that would be walkable or easily accessible by public transportation for clients, but for years no real estate options seemed to fit that bill. Now, thanks to a collaborative effort between United Churches Elizabethtown Area (UCEA) and community members, organizations, businesses, and social service providers, that dream See Community Place pg 12

More Than A Workout Group F3 Lanco Focuses On Fitness, Fellowship, Faith By Chelsea Peifer

When Gary Fyke moved to Mount Joy from the greater Chicago area in 2017, he knew that he wanted to establish an F3 group in his new location. “Moving here, I couldn’t not have F3 in my life,” recalled Fyke, referring to the national network of free, peer-led workouts for men. While being part of an F3 site in his hometown, Fyke helped out with operations, leading workouts, and coordinating community involvements. Three people showed See F3 Lanco pg 8

F3 Lanco is part of a national network of free, peer-led, workouts for men. The group meets for workouts in a boot camp style on Saturday mornings at Rapho Township Community Park. Elizabethtown Fair Slates Annual Auctions The 45th annual Elizabethtown Fair will open on Monday, Aug. 20, and continue through Saturday, Aug. 25, at the fairgrounds, 900 E. High St., Elizabethtown. Those who would like to bid on some of the award-winning items at the fair will have the opportunity to do so in three auctions during the week. The first auction will feature baked goods entered into the fair competitions by area residents and will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 21, on Stage 2. Elizabethtown Fair president Kenneth Myer will serve as auctioneer, and he will be assisted by See Auctions pg 6

The Sale of Champions livestock auction will take place on Aug. 22 during the Elizabethtown Fair, which will run from Aug. 20 to 25. Other auctions will include baked goods on Aug. 21 and arts and crafts on Aug. 24.
