Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) is celebrating its 100-year anniversary in 2020, and the yearlong celebration opened with volunteers throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe making thousands of comforters during The Great Winter Warm-Up events in January. The comforters are donated to people in crisis all over the world. In Lancaster County, volunteers gathered to knot comforters at sites
including Erisman Mennonite Church in Manheim, Garden Spot Village in New Holland, Lancaster Mennonite School - New Danville Campus, Mountville Mennonite Church, and the MCC East Coast Materials Resource Center in Ephrata. MCC was founded in 1920 by Mennonites and Mennonite Brethren groups that formed a committee to provide food and other aid to people affected by war and famine in southern Russia, which is present-day Ukraine. See MCC pg 3
