Lebanon Valley College’s Sarah Leidich of Mount Joy is one of seven student-athletes named to the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Fall Sportsmanship Team.

Leidich is a member of the Flying Dutchmen field hockey team.

Leidich played in all 19 games for the Dutchmen and made four starts. The midfielder recorded five points on two goals and one assist.

She scored a penalty stroke goal in the season opener at Elizabethtown.

Leidich, a graduate of Donegal High School, is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in communication sciences and disorders at Lebanon Valley College.

GEARS will offer pickleball lessons for people age 16 and up at the gym at the Elizabethtown Brethren in Christ Church, 996 E. High St., Elizabethtown. (B) for children ages 2 to 3. For children ages 4 to 5 years, classes will be Tadpole from 9:20 to 9:50 a.m. and Guppy from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Other classes will be Frog from 10:40 to 11:10 a.m., Seahorse from 11:20 to 11:50 a.m., and Seal/Dolphin/Shark from noon to 12:30 p.m.

Feel Good Yoga, for people age 14 and older of all fitness levels, will be offered from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Mondays, Jan. 8 to March 4, and from 9 to 10 a.m. on Thursdays, Jan. 11 to March 7, at Masonic Village Carpenter Chapel, 1244 Bainbridge Road, Elizabethtown.

Power Hour with Lynn will be held on Mondays, Jan. 8 to March 4, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Community Place on Washington, 105 E. Washington St., Elizabethtown. Featuring bodyweight exercises, plyometric drills and weight training, the class is suitable for people of all ages and experience levels.

Hatha Flow Yoga will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays, Jan. 8 to March 6, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Masonic Village Carpenter Chapel, and on Saturdays, Jan. 6 to March 9, from 9 to 10 a.m. at Community Place on Washington. There will be no class on Saturday, Feb. 24. The class is for people age 14 and up, and no experience is necessary.

Options will be provided for more or less intensity throughout the class so that it is tailored to individual participant needs.

Participants should wear layers of comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat, strap and block.

The event will begin at 5 p.m.

The service of lessons and carols will include Holy Communion and candle lighting.

Cavod slates auditions Cavod will hold auditions for the 2024 Cavod Ballet Theatre production, “To Neverland,” on Saturday, Jan. 13, from noon to 3 p.m., with callbacks by invitation only from 4 to 7 p.m.

Those chosen to perform will travel through the Lost Boys’ woods, learn to fly with Tinker Bell, and join the fight against Captain Hook in this rendition of “Peter Pan.” Rehearsals will occur on Fridays from 6 to 8:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting Friday, Feb. 9. The show will be performed on Friday to Sunday, April 12 to 14.

Children ages 8 to 18 may participate, and they must be enrolled in a ballet class.

Lower Dauphin High School junior Ashley Jilek recently was appointed as a student representative to the board of directors of Lower Dauphin Communities That Care.

Ashley is the daughter of Tressa and Charles Jilek.

She is a member of Student Council, Class Council, Volunteen, National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, History Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, LD Youth Advisory Committee, Mental Health Club, and Mini-THON. She also serves as a counselor in Lower Dauphin’s Outdoor Education program and participates in the Health Careers Exploration Program. She participates in the LD Communities That Care programs Club Ophelia, Study Buddies and On Applebee Pond Puppets. She plans to attend college and major in psychology with the goal of entering the medical field.
