St. Mark’s Extends Invitation To Free Thanksgiving Dinner Thanksgiving is a day for families to relax and enjoy a delicious meal with their loved ones. It is not a time to be alone; however, not everyone is blessed to have a family, or relatives nearby, to share this day with. That is why the St. Mark’s United Methodist Church (UMC) family and community members will be cooking and serving the church’s 15th annual free community Thanksgiving Day dinner. In 2018, more than 90 volunteers helped cook and serve Thanksgiving meals to approximately 400 people. After guests enjoyed a delicious home-cooked turkey dinner, many volunteers sat together and enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner, too. This year’s free Thanksgiving Day dinner will be served on Thursday, Nov. 28, in the fellowship hall of St. Mark’s UMC, 27 E. Main St., Mount Joy. Besides turkey and gravy, the meal will include stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, vegetables, rolls and butter, cranberry sauce, dessert, and beverages. People who want to enjoy dinner at the church with family, friends, and community members will be greeted, seated, and served the family-style dinner at noon and should plan to arrive between 11:45 a.m. and noon. Takeout options are also available. Those who pick up a dinner to take home should arrive at the church between 11 and 11:20 a.m. only. Arrangements can also be made in advance to have meals delivered to individuals who are sick or unable to leave their homes.
