Some people may think of Community Bible Church (CBC), 331 Anderson Ferry Road, Marietta, as “that big church up on the hill,” but senior pastor Jeff Burkholder would like that to change. The mission of CBC is to love God, love others, and reach out. One way that CBC actively reaches out is through its Community Care Center, located at 54 W. Market St., Marietta, which houses a clothing bank for local residents. “The clothing bank has been in existence for many, many years, but we want to see (the Community Care Center) develop into more than just that,” explained Burkholder.
CBC outreach coordinator Dave Poteat suggested hosting a block party outside the center this fall as a fun way to interact with those living in the vicinity of the center. “The purpose of the block party is twofold: One, we want to legitimately throw a fun party for the people of Marietta,” Burkholder shared. “But at the same time, we want to show people around (the Community Care Center) and have discussions on how we can use the center to meet their needs.” Everyone is invited to attend the block party, set to take place from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 6, in the first block of West Market Street, from the S-bend to the square.
