SPAGHETTI DINNER
St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 27 E. Main St., Mount Joy, will serve a free baked spaghetti dinner on Sunday, Feb. 16, from 4 to 5 p.m. In addition to spaghetti, the meal will include applesauce, bread and butter, dessert, and beverages. The church’s free community dinners provide not only homecooked meals, but also a time for fellowship. Although there is no cost for the dinner, reservations are appreciated to help plan for the meal. Call the church office at 717-653-5493 by Thursday, Feb. 13, to make reservations. Florin Church of the Brethren, 815 Bruce Ave., Mount Joy, will offer its free monthly Breakfast Bowl community breakfast on Saturday, Feb. 15, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. A variety of breakfast foods will be offered. Free parking will be available at the lower end of the parking lot, and attendees should enter through the double glass doors under the drive-through. Susquehanna Stage Company (SSC) will perform Katori Hall’s critically acclaimed two-person drama “The Mountaintop” on select dates from Friday, Feb. 14, to Sunday, Feb. 23, in the Eater Theater at the Marietta Center for the Arts, 133 W. Market St., Marietta. Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 14 and 15, and Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, Feb. 20, 21, and 22. Matinee shows will begin at 2 p.m. on Sundays, Feb. 16 and 23. “The Mountaintop” is Hall’s fictional retelling of how the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. spent his
last night on Earth before his assassination. The 90-minute drama is set entirely in one room at The Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tenn., on April 3, 1968, and will star Jeremy R. Patterson as King and Pilisa Nicolette Mackey as Camae. King is working on a speech when Camae, a maid working at the motel, interrupts to deliver his coffee. A conversation ensues examining King’s achievements, failures, and unfinished dreams. Everence Schedules Maytown Square To Undergo Stewardship University 2020 Walkway Restoration By Chelsea Peifer

Lynette Morales, the Everence church relations representative who coordinates Stewardship University, wants Lancaster County residents to know that the yearly event is not just about money. “It is a day of holistic stewardship,” said Morales, who noted that the workshops offered are designed to answer questions like: What does it mean to be a good steward of the Gospel? Or of the gifts God has given me? Stewardship University 2020 will be held on Saturday, March 7, at Calvary Church, 1051 Landis Valley Road, Lancaster. The walkways in the historic Maytown Square are about to get an update thanks to the efforts of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 809 of Maytown. Auxiliary members invite everyone to purchase personalized, engraved bricks that will then be permanently installed in the new walkways. Auxiliary president Sara Gutshall said that the new brick walkways are tentatively set to be installed in mid-April by Mariettabased Tom Jones Landscape and Lawncare using bricks supplied by Drohan Brick and Hardscaping in Mount Joy. Gutshall noted that using bricks for the walkways also bears historical significance to the history of Maytown, which See Maytown pg 3
The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 809 of Maytown, led by president Sara Gutshall, is currently selling personalized, engraved bricks that will be put into the new walkways set to be installed in the Maytown Square in mid-April. The sale of bricks will help to pay for the project.

610 E. Main St., Mount Joy, will host the biblical marriage enrichment course “Marriage: Together as One!” starting Friday, Feb. 28. Marriage ministry coaches Jeff and Missy Sugden will direct a time of biblical marriage teaching and Christ-centered resources. Their goal is to help strengthen and encourage each married couple and to bring each couple closer together as one in Jesus. At 6:30 p.m. a short meet-and-greet will begin with light refreshments. The first session topic is “Again, I Still Do.” It will be discussed from 7 to 8 p.m. Over the next several months, other course topics may include forgiveness, honor, communication and roles in marriage.
