FALL PERFORMANCE

The Chester County Concert Band, directed by David W. Reif, will present its fall concert, “A Palette of Color and Sound,” on Saturday, Nov. 2, at 3 p.m. at J.R. Fugett Middle School, Paoli Pike and Ellis Lane, West Chester. Selected highlights will include “Pictures at an Exhibition,” “The Wizard of Oz,” “Hymn to Red October,” “Paintings” and “Rainbow Connection.” Tickets may be purchased at the door at set prices for adults and for seniors and students, with children under 12 admitted free. The Sadsbury Township Historical Society will meet on Monday, Nov. 4, at 7 p.m. at the Sadsbury Township Municipal Building, 2920 Lincoln Highway, Sadsburyville. The Borough of Downingtown will host a prescription drug take-back event on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Downingtown Police Department, 10 W. Lancaster Ave. This event will give the public an opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs. David’s Drive Continues Charitable Efforts

Cat Angel Network (CAN), a nonprofit, all-volunteer, no-kill cat rescue organization that serves Chester, Berks and Montgomery counties, will hold its annual benefit auction on Sunday, Oct. 27. The event will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. in Griffith Hall, located at Ludwigs Corner Fire Company, 1325 N. Pottstown Pike (Route 100), Glenmoore. The catered event will include 15 silent auction tables, a live auction and door prizes. There will also be an opportunity for attendees to win items through a random drawing. Registration will open at 1:45 p.m., and people may begin bidding on silent auction items at 2 p.m. Beverages and hot and cold hors d’oeuvres will be served. The silent auction tables will begin closing at 3:15 p.m., and the live auction will start at 3:45 p.m. Auction items have been donated by local businesses and the community. Brandywine School Supports Breast Cancer Awareness Month In honor of October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, students and families at the Brandywine School of Early Learning are supporting SHiNE, an allvolunteer fundraising organization that provides assistance to cancer patients at the Abramson Cancer Center at Chester County Hospital. In addition, Jennifer Royds, a Brandywine School teacher, is selling pink paper ribbons, which will be hung in the school hallways to show the school’s support. When David’s Drive 831 was created in 2010 in memory of David Turner Jr., who died in 2009 at the age of 20 of a suspected heart arrhythmia while working at the Coatesville Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center, the goal of the charity was to help veterans by providing them with T-shirts, underwear and socks. While working at the VA, David learned that many veterans lacked these basic necessities. Today, however, the efforts of David’s Drive have grown to include an array of community service projects that benefit veterans and their families. The Rotary Club of Coatesville is seeking new members willing to further the club’s commitment to its mission statement of “Service Above Self ” by assisting with community service projects locally and supporting Rotary International causes worldwide. Coatesville Rotary, formed in 1924, supports school students and community organizations. It also sponsors the Interact See Coatesville Rotary pg 5

The Rotary Club of Coatesville, which is seeking new members, sponsors the Interact Club at Coatesville Area Senior High School, among other community and worldwide involvements.
